Subnautica 2: How to Find and Use Axum Bacterial Culture

By Pranshu AryanMay 17, 20263 Mins Read

    Summary

    • Axum Bacterial Culture is one of the most important resources in the Subnautica 2 Early Access.
    • You can use it to make Metal Farms, which are indispensable for long-term resource gathering.
    • There is only a limited amount of these in the Early Access.

If you want to set up automated farms in Subnautica 2, Axum Bacterial Culture will be an essential resource for doing so. This raw material is not only rare but extremely useful in the long run.

Although it has a very niche use, Axum Bacterial Culture is quite important, making this resource highly sought after. This guide will show you where and how to find this item, and then how to use it as well.

You can find this item in green pools underwater, close to the Angel Comb below the Power Plant. Dive down towards the Angel Comb and face the north-east direction from here.

Now, keep going straight. There will be a fork in the road that veers off to your right. However, do not get distracted and keep heading north-east.

You will arrive at a glowing green pool-like area. Head to the surface of this pool, and you will find all the Axum Bacterial Culture you want.

Fortunately, you do not need any tool to farm this item. Instead, you can break it with your bare hands and collect the material afterwards.

Note: Make sure to collect the Bacterial Culture as soon as you break it since it might vanish if you let it fall into the pool below you.

This material has a single (but important) use, for now. You have to use it to make a Metal Farm with the help of the Habitat Builder. This is an automatic resource generator, making it a great item for long-term farming.

However, you do need to place this Metal Farm near a power source to get it to work. Lastly, you will require 20 Electricity to start the Metal Farm.

    Metal Farm Items Generation List

You can generate the following items from the Metal Farm (as long as you have at least one of them):

    ItemTime
    Titanium2 minutes
    Copper2 minutes
    Quartz2 minutes
    Salt2 minutes
    Silver10 minutes

    FAQs

What is the Metal Farm recipe?

You need to use 1 Mangalloy Ingot and 1 Axum Bacterial Culture to make one Metal Farm.

Can you make more Axum Bacterial Culture using the Metal Farm in Subnautica 2?

No, you cannot make more of this material. This is likely to preserve the balance of the game, and not allow you to make infinite Metal Farms.
