    Summary

    • The Deepwing Brooder is a Leviathan you can find in Subnautica 2.
    • Unlike other Leviathans, this one roams the entire map without any fixed pattern.
    • You can also get the Deepwing Egg Clumps from this creature, which is an amazing food and water source.

The Deepwing Brooder is one of many Leviathans found in Subnautica 2. Unlike the dangerous Collector Leviathan and Shiver Leviathan, this one is much easier to survive, but much harder to find. Moreover, there is actually a tangible benefit you get from finding this sea creature, besides the data entry from scanning it.

Unlike its peers, the Deepwing Brooder is not found in a specific biome or location. This is because of its behavior pattern. The Brooder is not a territorial creature. Instead, it moves around on its own volition, not restricted to any biome.

This is exactly what makes it particularly hard to find, since it has a random chance of being anywhere at a given time. However, we have seen some hot spots where it seems to appear more frequently:

    • Alien Ruins
      • They approach from the north-west direction and proceed south-east. Although this has not been confirmed to be the same pattern every time. So, it might change.
    • Alien Observatory

They seem to patrol the waters up to the lava zone, so you should not try searching beyond this point. They generally stick to a depth of around 50-100 meters, close to the surface.

Do not worry about the Brooder being hostile. This creature might look intimidating, but it does not attack you. So, feel free to swim up close and take a scan of it.

How To Get Deepwing Egg Clump in Subnautica 2

While you are following the Deepwing Brooder, you might notice that it starts releasing small white eggs. There will be hundreds of these being released together, but not all of these are what you are looking for.

In fact, most of these are actually decoys, which break apart as soon as you get too close. However, in the midst of these, there will be certain larger spheres, which don’t break upon contact. You can interact with these eggs to obtain Deepwing Egg Clumps.

Note: You should bring some food and water sources before you start following them around. It might take a while for the Brooders to start releasing the eggs, and even longer for you to search through all of them.

    FAQs

What do Deepwing Egg Clumps do in Subnautica 2?

    Subnautica 2 Pavlova

These are one of the best nutritional sources in the game. You can use it by itself, but this is not generally recommended, unless in an emergency. Instead, you can use it to make Pavlova at the Fabricator using:

    • 1x Deepwing Egg Clump
    • 1x Sugar of Saturn
    • 1x Cherimoya Rotsac

This gives you 80 Food, 70 Water, and 10 Health, making it one of the best food items you can make. Alternatively, Deepwing Egg Clumps are also needed for creating Axum Etching Acid DNL, but this item cannot be made in the Early Access, and its use is also unknown for now.

How to spot Deepwing Egg Clumps from the rest of the decoys?

The real egg clumps can be spotted from the way they move and hit the ground. The decoys will gently settle down and usually not move much. However, the real eggs tend to bounce and roll if they hit uneven surfaces. This can be an easy way of spotting the real among the fakes.
