Pokémon Pokopia: What Does “You Sense A Large Presence Coming From The Ocean” Mean

By Pranshu AryanMarch 13, 20264 Mins Read

    Summary

    • There is a random prompt that might inform you about a large presence coming from the ocean in Pokémon Pokopia.
    • This presence refers to Kyogre, the Sea Basin Pokémon.
    • If you cannot meet with Kyogre, just try wandering around or swimming in and near the ocean.

If you have played Pokémon Pokopia for a decent amount of time, then chances are that you might have already gotten a pop-up that reads, “You sense a large presence coming from the ocean.”

If you are confused regarding this message, do not worry. This guide will show you what happens when this cryptic message shows up, leading you to a Legendary meeting in the process as well.

The prompt doesn’t explain what to do, which might lead you on a wild goose chase. The ‘large ocean presence’ in question refers to Kyogre, the Hoenn Legendary.

This definitely fits the bill since Kyogre is a large presence, and one that stays beneath the ocean for most of its life. However, if you rescued Onyx by performing the Rain Dance Party, then you will have already met Kyogre once.

Unfortunately, your meeting at that time was quite short. So, use this opportunity to take all the pictures of the Legendary that you want.

How To Easily Locate Large Presence From the Ocean (Kyogre) in Pokémon Pokopia

Unfortunately, there is no fixed location for Kyogre spawning. Therefore, the best advice I would give is to head to the nearby open water and take a dip. You should unlock the Lapras transformation later in the game, which would allow you to swim around freely.

If you happen to enter the right area, the screen should go black, and lead to an encounter with Kyogre. I would recommend checking two locations in particular:

    • The area near the entry point of the new island. This is because the message primarily seems to appear when you enter a new area. Therefore, it is advised to check the surrounding area before moving on.
    • If the interaction does not trigger, then move along the coastline. Kyogre generally cannot spawn on land. This narrows your search distance by quite a margin. (However, some players have reported being able to encounter him without going into the water as well.)
    • Lastly, if you do not have Surf (Lapras transformation), then try building out towards the open water. This might lead you to start the encounter.

Can You Befriend Kyogre in Pokémon Pokopia

No, you cannot befriend Kyogre, unlike other Legendary Pokémon. Still, some short conversations are better than nothing. So, make sure to make the most of this encounter.

    FAQs

    Is Groudon in Pokémon Pokopia?

No, Groudon is not present in the game, for now at least. There is always the possibility of it showing up in some later event, like Hoppip and Sableye.

How to unlock Lapras transformation in Pokémon Pokopia?

You have to reach the Bleak Beach and start the Brighten Things Up! quest, which needs you to manage electricity all over the town. During this quest, you will meet Piplup, who will show you Lapras’ Habitat. You can construct this Habitat to meet Lapras and unlock this transformation.

Is there any reward for meeting Kyogre in Pokémon Pokopia?

Fortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any reward for meeting Kyogre, unlike Lugia and Ho-Oh. So, do not stress if you cannot find it. All you get out of the meeting is some pieces of dialogue. This does not take into account the mandatory story encounter with Kyogre, which leads to Onyx being freed in the process.
