Pokémon Champions: How To Use Mega Meganium – Moveset Guide

By Pranshu AryanApril 14, 20264 Mins Read

    Summary

    • Mega Meganium has a really good moveset that you can use when combined with its ability in Pokémon Champions.
    • Mega Sol lets it hit Solar Beam in one turn, without wasting any turns on charging.
    • Moreover, Weather Ball is affected by this ability, giving you flexible team compositions where Meganium works with different weather setups as well.

Mega Meganium was introduced in Pokémon Legends Z-A and can also be used in Pokémon Champions. This Johto starter has become quite strong after this new transformation, which gives it the unique Mega Sol ability. This is the core of its build and moveset, letting you craft some of the strongest teams in the game.

Although you can only have a total of four moves per Pokémon, we will strive to give you a longer list, which will let you be flexible while making a moveset.

    MoveTypePowerReason
Solar BeamGrass120Solar Beam is a great move to have under Harsh Sunlight, since it does not have to charge up for one turn. However, you do not have to worry about weather conditions as long as you are Mega Evolved, since Mega Sol lets moves be used as they would be under Sunlight.
Weather BallNormal50Although the base power of Weather Ball might seem low at first glance, do not disregard it. This move gets boosted to 100 power under the effects of Sunlight, which is guaranteed as long as Mega Sol is active. Moreover, Weather Ball transforms into a Fire-type move under Sunlight, letting it hit super effective hits on Steel-type Pokémon as well.
ProtectNormal–Just a good universal move to have if you want to bait out certain moves, or test whether the opponent has a super effective move on you or not.
Giga DrainGrass75Meganium is a bulky Special Attacker, which makes Giga Drain quite effective in gaining back lost health, while also dealing some damage along the way.
SynthesisGrass–Synthesis is an alternative option that focuses purely on the healing side and not doing damage. However, it is more reliable than Giga Drain, especially for Meganium, due to its Mega Sol ability. Under the effects of Sunlight, Synthesis always heals two-thirds of your health.
Dazzling GleamFairy80Garchomp and Dragonite are quite popular in Champions for now. Meganium’s secondary Fairy typing already makes it lethal against Dragons, so this move is great as you get STAB (Same Type Attack Boost) as well.

Mega Meganium Team Synergy and Strategy in Pokémon Champions

Several Pokémon can draw out the full potential of Meganium. However, there are some standout picks.

    • Pelipper: Meganium is being widely used in Rain teams alongside Pelipper. There are two reasons for this. Mega Sol lets Weather Ball remain as a Fire-type move, while also allowing it to work fine under Rain. This also dampens the effectiveness of other Fire Pokémon, which are a counter to Meganium.
    • Incineroar: This is one of the most dominant Pokémon in the game at the moment, due to its amazing moveset and stat combination. Parting Shot and Fake Out let it easily debuff opponent teams and deal chip damage over time.
    • Archaludon: This is another pick for Meganium’s best Rain teams. Its signature move, Electro Shot, can be fired in one turn as long as Rain is active. This lets it easily take care of many Pokémon that would become a problem otherwise. On top of this, its Steel/Dragon typing is also fantastic.

You should watch out for the following types:

    • Fire
    • Ice
    • Flying
    • Poison (four times weak)
    • Bug

These types will be super effective on Meganium, so you should proceed carefully if you see these matchups. However, you can take care of Ice and Bug-type Pokémon through Weather Ball.
