How To Increase Backpack Size In Little Rocket Lab

By Jorge AguilarOctober 9, 20254 Mins Read

Getting a bigger backpack in Little Rocket Lab is more than just wishful thinking or an upgrade that comes with time. There’s a real way you need to get this bag, and it isn’t how you would think. Even if you go to the game’s general store, you won’t actually find the backpack listed with the merchant’s usual selling items. Instead, there’s a different way to get more inventory space.

You’ll actually get a mail message early on that straight-up tells you new backpacks are available. This message, which comes from Cliff’s General Store, lets you know they’ve got new backpacks in stock, designed specifically to help you haul more gear. This is your first clue and the main way you’re going to boost your inventory, so run to the store.

To actually grab this larger backpack, you need to head to the general store in town. Once you get there, though, you can’t just buy it off the merchant’s regular sell list, as one player originally found out. Instead, you have to interact with the backpack item itself right there in the store’s display. By clicking on the backpack when you’re using the general store interface, you’ll get the prompt to buy it. This interaction-based purchase is a tiny detail, but it’s easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it.

The benefit of a bigger backpack is super clear, super fast. As you play, you’ll start collecting a ton of resources, like iron ore, copper, and all the different crafted parts, such as gears, bearings, and copper wires. Without enough storage, your inventory is going to fill up in a flash, constantly breaking your focus as you build and tune your factory.

The game is all about gathering and crafting, especially for research and repairs, which means more inventory slots equals way more efficient gameplay and less running back and forth. Snapping up that larger backpack from the general store is an essential first move to streamlining your automation and really getting the most out of the game’s cozy factory-building vibe, just like the demo.

Why Can’t I Find The Backpack In Shop In Little Rocket Lab?

So, you’re playing Little Rocket Lab and you’re pulling your hair out because you can’t find the backpack in the shops, even though that early-game mail totally hinted it was there? You’re not alone. This is a super common point of confusion, and it all boils down to a small, honestly kind of hidden, interaction in the game’s general store.

The game tries to tell you about the inventory expansion with a message saying a bigger backpack can be bought at a store. But if you blow off that mail or just forget the details, you’re going to have a rough time trying to find it in a typical merchant’s sales list. The big thing to remember is you’re not going to find this by scrolling through all the vendors selling craftable items or furniture.

The trick is to head to the general store. Once you’re inside, the backpack isn’t just sitting there as a standard item in the merchant’s inventory or popping up in a list of goods. You won’t see it in a traditional menu, which is what messes everyone up. The key is, and one player actually figured this out, and a developer confirmed it, you have to literally click on a specific visual picture of the backpack within the general store’s interface to actually buy it. It’s a subtle interaction that you can easily miss if you’re used to more straightforward inventory lists in other games.

This design choice, which some players call a bit “hidden,” does mean the backpack is available early on, just like the mail suggested. You don’t have to wait to unlock later content or go searching for some advanced, secret shop. It’s just that the game handles this particular transaction in a unique wayl it requires a more direct interaction with the item’s visual in the general store instead of a simple menu selection.

This system lets you increase your inventory size when you need it, so you can carry more of the resources and components you need for all that factory building and town revitalizing. You just need to have a keen eye and be willing to do a little exploratory clicking. The general store is the right spot, and a direct click on the backpack image is the exact move you need to make to grab that much-needed inventory upgrade in Little Rocket Lab.
