    Pollo Sprite in Fortnite

The Pollo Sprite Fortnite players are hunting is one of the rarest companions in Chapter 7 Season 3, and it has an origin unlike any other sprite in the game. It is Mythic rarity, it is modeled on a real competitive player, and for its first few days in the game the only way to get one was to beat that player in a match. It has since entered the normal loot pool, but the drop rate is brutal.

Here is every way to get it, what its shield ability does, and whether it is worth the grind.

    What Is the Pollo Sprite?

The Pollo Sprite is a Mythic-rarity companion added in the v41.20 update. What sets it apart from every other sprite is that it is not based on a licensed character like Batman. It is modeled on a real person: Miguel “Pollo” Moreno, a Team Falcons pro and multiple-time FNCS champion widely regarded as one of the best competitive Fortnite players in the world.

It is one of two pro-player sprites released together, the other being the Vini Jr Sprite. Both sit at Mythic rarity, the highest tier in the sprites system, which is a big part of why they are so hard to pull from any single chest.

    The Unusual Origin Story

The Pollo Sprite is worth understanding because of how it entered the game, which is unlike any other cosmetic this season.

When it launched with the v41.20 update, it did not appear in the loot pool at all. For the first several days, the only person on the planet who had it was Pollo himself. Starting July 18, he began handing it out during his livestream: beat him in a match that day, and the sprite dropped for you to grab.

From there it spread purely player to player. Anyone who took it off Pollo could then have it taken off them by another player through elimination, so it slowly trickled through the community, mostly among top-tier players skilled enough to win those fights. For a few days it was arguably the rarest obtainable cosmetic in the entire game.

That changed on July 23, when the Pollo Sprite officially entered the standard loot pool. You no longer need to hunt down the man himself, but as you will see, the drop rate keeps it rare regardless.

How to Get the Pollo Sprite Now

Since July 23, the Pollo Sprite drops from the standard loot pool, but the odds are punishing. The Sprite Locator lists it at a 1.01% drop chance, which tells you how rarely it actually appears.

How to Get the Pollo Sprite Now

Here are all the confirmed ways to get it:

    • Sprite Chests are your best and most reliable source. They guarantee a companion drop alongside normal loot, so every one you open is a real roll at the Pollo Sprite. Chaining multiple Sprite Chest spawns in a single match gives you the best cumulative odds.
    • Rare Chests can also drop it, but the odds are noticeably worse than Sprite Chests.
    • Sprite Locator actively points you toward nearby Sprite Chests, at the 1.01% per-locate chance noted above.
    • Eliminating a carrier works exactly as it did in the sprite’s early days. If another player has the Pollo Sprite equipped, defeating them drops it for you to grab.
    • Trading with a squadmate who pulls one is the most efficient route if you play in a cooperative lobby.
    • Lucky Locator, arriving later this season, guarantees a sprite you do not already own, which will be the most reliable path once it is live.

Whichever route lands it, you must extract the sprite at an Extraction Site or with a Portable Extractor before you go down. Lose the fight before extracting and the sprite is gone, forcing you to chase it all over again.

    What the Pollo Sprite Does

What Does the Pollo Sprite Do in Fortnite?

The Pollo Sprite rewards aggressive play. Every time you score an elimination, it triggers passive shield regeneration for you and any nearby squad members for a set duration. There are no buttons to press and no cooldown to manage. Secure a kill, and the shields start refilling automatically.

This makes it one of the strongest squad-oriented sprites in the game. A single elimination can top up multiple teammates at once, which changes how you approach late-game fights where healing resources are scarce. It shares a shield-recovery theme with the Water Sprite and Duck Sprite, but those refill shields passively without any combat requirement. The Pollo Sprite only pays out when you actually get an elimination, which makes it a better fit for teams that push fights rather than avoid them.

    How Leveling Works

Like every sprite in Chapter 7 Season 3, the Pollo Sprite levels up during a match as you use it, and higher levels extend the shield regeneration window.

Sprite LevelShield Regen Duration per Elimination
    Level 16 seconds
    Level 5 (Max)10 seconds

A freshly looted Pollo Sprite at Level 1 gives 6 seconds of squad shield regen per kill. Fully leveled at Level 5, that extends to a full 10 seconds. In a late-game squad fight where everyone is running low, 10 seconds of automatic shield recovery across the whole team can be the difference between surviving the next push and getting wiped.

If you lose the sprite mid-match, you can resummon it for 7,500 Sprite Dust, a fixed cost that does not change with level. There are no special variants of the Pollo Sprite, so what you see is what you get.

Is the Pollo Sprite Worth Chasing?

For squad players who actively take fights, the Pollo Sprite is one of the best companions in the pool. The passive shield regen on kills costs nothing to trigger, scales well with level, and benefits your entire team. The only real downside is how hard it is to get.

The fastest practical path is chaining Sprite Chest spawns in a single match using the Sprite Locator. The 1.01% drop rate sounds hopeless, but across a full route of several chests, the cumulative odds become reasonable. Trading is the most efficient method if you have a cooperative lobby where someone else pulls one first.

For solo players, the value drops off. The ability still works for you individually, but a sprite built around squad-wide shield regen is not playing to its strength in solo queue. If you mostly play Squads and win the fights that trigger it, though, the Pollo Sprite is essentially free team healing and well worth the effort of tracking down.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get the Pollo Sprite in Fortnite?

Since July 23, it drops from Sprite Chests and Rare Chests in the standard loot pool, with Sprite Chests being the best source. You can also get it by eliminating a player carrying one, trading with a squadmate, or using a Sprite Locator, which lists it at a 1.01% drop chance. Extract it before you go down to keep it.

What does the Pollo Sprite do?

After every elimination, it passively regenerates shield for you and nearby squad members for a set duration. There is no cooldown. The effect scales with the sprite’s level.

    Who is Pollo in Fortnite?

Pollo is Miguel Moreno, a Team Falcons professional and multiple-time FNCS champion, considered one of the best competitive Fortnite players in the world. The sprite is modeled after him, one of two pro-player sprites alongside Vini Jr.

What rarity is the Pollo Sprite?

It is Mythic, the highest rarity in the sprites system, which is why it is so rare in the loot pool.

How long is the Pollo Sprite shield regen?

It scales from 6 seconds per elimination at Level 1 to 10 seconds at Level 5. The duration applies to you and nearby squad members.

Does the Pollo Sprite have variants?

No. Unlike some sprites, the Pollo Sprite has no special variants. It costs a fixed 7,500 Sprite Dust to resummon regardless of level.

Is the Pollo Sprite good for solo players?

It works in solo but is built for Squads, since its main strength is regenerating shield for your whole team after eliminations. Solo players get less value from it than squad players.

The Pollo Sprite is one of the most interesting companions in Chapter 7 Season 3, both for its origin as a real pro’s sprite and for a genuinely strong squad ability. It is a brutal grind at a 1.01% locate rate, but for aggressive Squads players, free shield regen after every kill is worth chasing. Run a Sprite Chest route, extract the moment you find one, and level it during the match for the full 10-second window.
