The Pokémon Company has made a Shiny Volcanion available to players for the first time via Pokémon Home. However, this is not an easy one to get, as it requires a considerable amount of work. You will also need to own Pokémon Legends Z-A, or at least have a friend who is willing to transfer a lot of Pokémon to you.
Pokémon Home Shiny Volcanion Requirements
There is one simple, albeit long, step to get Shiny Volcanion. You must complete the Pokémon Legends Z-A Pokédex. This includes:
- Lumiose Pokédex (230 Pokémon)
- Mega Evolution Pokédex (93 Pokémon)
- Hyperspace Pokédex (131 Pokémon)
The Lumiose Pokédex is the Pokédex for the base Legends Z-A game. This goes up to Zygarde. You do not need Mewtwo and Diancie to complete this Pokédex, but they will be needed for the Mega Evolution Pokédex.
The Hyperspace Pokédex only includes the new Pokémon added in the Mega Dimension DLC for Legends Z-A. Lastly, we have the Mega Evolution Pokédex, which includes Mega Evolutions from the base game and the DLC.
Note: As mentioned earlier, Mewtwo and Diancie (obtainable via Mystery Gifts) will need to be transferred to Pokémon Home for the Mega Evolution Pokédex to be completed. Additionally, you only need to transfer one copy of Pokémon that has different forms or genders (like Meowstic).
How To Get Shiny Volcanion in Pokémon Home
Once you have completed the above requirements, navigate to the Mystery Gifts tab. You will now be able to claim the new Shiny Legendary Pokémon.
This Pokémon arrives at level 50, and can use the following moves:
- Steam Eruption
- Flare Blitz
- Hydro Pump
- Heavy Slam

Yes, a Nintendo Account needs to be linked so that you can claim your Mystery Gifts. A guest account cannot claim this reward.
How do you track your Legends Z-A Pokédex completion?
Open the Pokédex from the three bars in the center of your screen. Here, at the top, click on the Games tab. This list will have the Lumiose, Mega Evolution, and Hyperspace Pokédexes available for viewing.
You can check which Pokémon you have already registered in the Pokédex and the ones that are remaining.
How to get Shiny Volcanion without having Legends Z-A?
You can request trades from your friends for Pokémon you do not have. Although getting Legendaries and Mythicals will be a hard trade to find, it is not impossible.
