How to Get the True Ending in Absolum

By Jorge AguilarOctober 11, 20255 Mins Read

Unlocking the true ending in Absolum is a seriously tough journey that demands a ton of dedication and for you to basically master the game’s mechanics. It’s not a simple path you’re going to stumble upon right away; instead, you first have to conquer the main bad guy, Sun King Azra, in the Asterios region. This initial win is a huge deal on its own, and you’ll likely need a fully upgraded team of characters and a deep understanding of their skills and upgrades to pull it off.

Unlocking the true ending in Absolum is a massive undertaking that’s way more involved than just taking down the Sun King Azra. The game is built with that roguelite structure, and achieving the real victory demands persistence, smart planning, and a deep understanding of how everything works. Your first successful run, where you finally beat Sun King Azra in Asterios, is honestly just the beginning.

That first win proves you’re getting the hang of the game’s combat and progression, but it’s not the ultimate conclusion. After that first win, a new, much tougher fight is waiting for you: the true final boss, which is actually Absolum itself. To even get a shot at facing this entity, you have to do another full run of the game. The key thing that changes this time around is that you absolutely need to have a “Mother’s Grace” with you when you confront Sun King Azra for the second time.

Absolum is designed to wipe you out immediately at the start of that encounter. If you don’t have a Mother’s Grace for a revival, your run will end super quickly and unceremoniously, forcing you to restart your quest for the true ending. So pick Cider or Brome if you’re used to them.

Keeping a Mother’s Grace for an entire run is a delicate balancing act. You basically have to get through every fight without dying, because losing your Grace means you’ve thrown away your chance to challenge Absolum. That definitely adds a ton of tension and difficulty! To be fair, there are backup plans. If you find yourself without a Mother’s Grace as you get close to the final battle, there’s a vendor in Asterios who offers one for 800 coins, which gives you a last-minute opportunity to secure your lifeline.

A more reliable strategy, though, involves spending enough Crystals (that’s the game’s permanent progression currency) to unlock a second Grace, which significantly ups your chances of reaching Absolum without being totally vulnerable. Given how incredibly hard Absolum is, you should definitely only tackle this true ending quest after you’ve fully upgraded your character and bought as many permanent buffs as you can with your Crystals. This is why it’s such a good multiplayer game too.

Mastering the core combat mechanics, especially the “Clashing” system, is going to be instrumental in surviving the relentless onslaught. If the challenge feels too overwhelming, you can tweak the game’s Assist Options to reduce the damage you take or boost your own damage output, which offers a path for those who want to experience the narrative without extreme frustration.

Once you finally manage to beat Absolum, the true ending will unfold, granting you a well-deserved trophy and resetting the timeline, so you can do endless subsequent runs, though a much-deserved break might be in order after that kind of arduous journey.

How to Reach Absolum’s Secret Final Boss

Reaching the real final boss, who’s also named Absolum, is a huge undertaking that perfectly mixes that beat-’em-up feel with all the pain of a roguelite. You won’t even start on this ultimate path until you’ve beaten a full run of the game for the first time.

That means fighting your way through to Asterios and defeating Sun King Azra. Honestly, just pulling off that initial win is a major commitment; it’s gonna take some serious time, and you’ll likely need a fully maxed-out roster of characters to get it done.

Once you’ve finally put Azra down, you’ve got to gear up for a second complete run. But this time, there’s a huge catch: you absolutely must have a “Mother’s Grace” saved up. The secret final boss, Absolum, will instantly kill you the second the fight starts. If you don’t have that Mother’s Grace to bring you back to life right then and there, your run is over, forcing you to start all the way back at the beginning.

Managing to keep a Mother’s Grace for an entire second run, without losing it to a single death, adds a massive layer of difficulty. But don’t worry, there are a few ways to make it less punishing. When you hit Asterios, you might find a vendor selling a Mother’s Grace for 800 coins. That’s a good last-ditch option if you’re approaching the final fight without one.

A much more reliable strategy, though, is to spend enough Crystals to permanently unlock a second Mother’s Grace. This seriously ups your odds of having one ready for Absolum, even if you lose the first one somewhere on your brutal journey. Doing this nets you the Sleep, my Sweet Prince gold trophy, one of the 38 trophies in Absolum.
