How To Defeat The Sun King Azra in Absolum

To beat Azra, focus on understanding his diverse and adaptable moveset across three distinct phases. Each phase introduces new attacks and challenges..
Phase One
In his initial phase, Azra focuses on quick, hard-hitting attacks. Your primary goal is to maintain offensive pressure and build your Pressure meter rapidly.
| Attacks | Descriptions | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Slice | Azra quickly dashes to you and swipes his blade in a wide arc. | Deflect or Clash |
| Purple Wave | Azra pulls his blade back and bursts forth with purple energy in a bubble around him. (Does not damage.) | Deflect or Clash |
| Time Slice | Azra rises into the air before dashing at you and slicing. | Dodge or Deflect |
| Power Slice | Azra charges his weapon behind him for a moment, then slices out in front of him in an arc. | Deflect |
| Next Stage | Azra jumps into the air with a sword slice and crashes down, knocking you into the next area. | Deflect |
Even if the Next Stage attack is deflected, you will still be moved to the next area. This transition happens twice before Phase Two begins. So just focus on lowering his health to half to progress.
Phase Two
Azra now has a random elemental Ritual, modifying his abilities and bringing in more annoying moves. In addition to Quick Slice and Purple Wave from Phase 1, he now has the following attacks:
| Attacks | Descriptions | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
|---|---|---|
| Time Dash | Azra dashes in a direction, leaving afterimages, then dashes through you. If he misses, he performs a Red Indicator attack. | Dodge |
| Tornado Strike | Azra jumps into the air and slams down, creating a large whirlwind of slashes. | Dodge |
Phase Three
As a master of time, Azra’s final phase alters his moves once more and adds a particularly disruptive attack, along with two more Ritual upgrades. The Quick Slice, Purple Wave, Time Dash, and Tornado Strike attacks carry over to this Phase, and in addition, he introduces this devastating moveset:
| Attacks | Descriptions | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
|---|---|---|
| Time Stop | Azra can freeze you in time and then strike you. (Activates after sufficient damage.) | You just have to take this one |
Best Preps / Route For Facing The Underking in Absolum
- Similar to fighting The Underking, Plan a route that focuses on getting as many upgrades as possible.
- Focus on bosses for their Inspiration abilities.
- Prioritize Gazorg, Son of Zorg, because he’s generally easier, and use the waterfall area for healing opportunities.
- After defeating Gazorg, jump off the side (instead of taking the bridge) to reach the mists area for more rewards.
Best Strategies For Beating Azra, The Sun King in Absolum
- The more damage you deal, the less mana Azra has for his Arcana abilities. Keep attacking to limit his powerful attacks.
- Use walls to bounce Azra back into your attack combos, which should maximize damage and keep pressure.
- Pay close attention to the Rituals Azra is using. Since they are the same as yours, you will have a good understanding of their effects and how to counter them.
- Know when to run, especially during attacks like Tornado Strike, which deal massive damage.
- When Azra’s sword flashes red for a sweep attack, clash it with your own skill to get an opening for Arcana damage.
- His speed increases significantly in the 2nd and 3rd phases.
- Focus on avoiding the “Tornado Strike” because of its high damage output.
- The “Time Stop” attack, once triggered, is unavoidable, so just make sure you have enough health to tank it.
