Side quests in Valor Mortis do a good job of giving us a window into the lives of ordinary citizens at the time of Napoleon’s campaign. However, The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory shows this from the perspective of a soldier in the army – although, in a firmly tongue in cheek manner.
The most difficult part about the quest is finding it, since it is in an area that is easily missable. However, it is worth keeping an eye out for this – since its rewards are among the better ones across other side quests. You get 2 Ambers, a Ferrofluid Flask Power upgrade, and like The Unheard Farewell quest, a Silver Trophy unlock.
Here is how to start, progress and complete The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory side quest in Valor Mortis.
Starting The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory Quest
The quest is located in the area you fight the Iron Marshall who keeps sniping you with grenades as you attempt to make your way from the Silent Cannons Lantern across the river. This is a platforming challenge on it’s own, and we have covered it in detail in our guide for Chapter 6: Punishment walkthrough.

Once you arrive in this area, before going ahead the path on the left towards this enemy, take the climbable part on the right, as I have shown in the image above. Run across the wall, and read the Note on the ground.
Continue ahead, clear the area of the enemies, including the one across the river that keeps sending those exploding wasps your way. Then, approach the hut and speak to Seamus. He reveals that he was also in the army, but is now relying upon more … unconventional methods to kill the enemy, and seeks your help.
He hands you an empty bottle, and asks you to get untainted, pure blood. Get into the next area, take care of the enemies, collect Pure Blade Material, Crude Blade Material, and Flaming Whetstone. On the left end of the area, with the dead cattle with blisters, is a chest containing Indestructible Shell Amber. Be careful, though, it is a chest that explodes on opening. With that done, now enter the shed at the right edge of the area.
Progressing the Seamus Diggory side quest

Here, you will read notes that hilariously reveal that Seamus’s plan is, to actually turn into a vampire. Read the other 2 notes on the way, and prepare to fight a Red Eye Howler. Kill it to get the Warrior’s Fury Amber.
Continue ahead to enter into another building, which has a bottle of wine. William remarks that this looks pretty similar to the bottle given by Seamus. Next, there will be a pig lying that you can collect blood to fill the bottle given by Seamus. So, you can either give him the bottle of wine, or the one filled with blood.
Closing the quest – Give Blood or Wine?

Both give the same rewards – a Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade, and Catalysts. Quest wise, though, this becomes a role playing call. If you give Blood, Seamus despairs that he is still a human, and will not be able to survive the Plague. If you give him Wine, he starts feeling good about himself, and thinks that he has now transformed into a powerful vampire who can spread havoc and destruction across.
If you feel like letting him indulge in his fantasies, give him Wine, if you want to get him down to earth and face reality, give him Blood.
Either way, on completing the quest, the Blood and Wine achievement unlocks in Valor Mortis.
