GTA 6 Pre-Order Guide: Release Date, Editions, Price & Where to Buy

GTA 6 pre-orders are live, and there is a lot to sort through before you spend your money. Two editions, multiple storefronts, a physical version that is not quite physical, a $20 upgrade path most people have not noticed, and a GTA+ auto-renewal buried in the fine print that will catch players off guard.

If you have not yet caught up on what Rockstar has officially confirmed, start with the GTA 6 Trailer 2 hidden details before deciding which edition to buy. This guide covers everything else you need to know before pulling the trigger.

GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms

GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms

GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S, set across the sprawling state of Leonida. For a full look at how the GTA 6 map compares to GTA 5, we have a complete breakdown. No PC version has been announced.

Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 and preloading begins on November 12, 2026, one week before launch. This applies to every pre-order, including the physical code-in-the-box edition.

    GTA 6 Editions and Prices

Two editions are available right now. Here is the quick breakdown:

    EditionPricePhysical Available
    Standard Edition$79.99Yes, code-in-the-box
    Ultimate Edition$99.99Digital only
Ultimate Edition Upgrade$20.00Digital only, requires Standard Edition

A note on the physical version: there is no disc. The physical box contains a digital download code. You pick it up from a retailer, redeem the code on your console, and download the game. It still counts as a physical purchase, and you can start preloading from November 12.

    Standard Edition: Everything Included

The Standard Edition at $79.99 gives you the full GTA 6 story and open world with no narrative content locked behind a higher price. Rockstar has confirmed that all story missions are in the base game. Pre-order before November 20 and you also get the Vintage Vice City Pack.

    Standard Edition includes:

    • GTA 6 base game
    • Vintage Vice City Pack (pre-order bonus, full details below)
    • One month of GTA+ subscription (read the warning below before redeeming)

This is the only edition available in physical format.

    Ultimate Edition: Everything Included

The Ultimate Edition at $99.99 adds a large collection of exclusive content across vehicles, weapons, clothing stores, tattoo parlors, mod shops, and two side missions. Five in-game shops are permanently locked for Standard Edition players and only open with the Ultimate Edition.

    Exclusive vehicles:

    • 95 Grotti Cheetah, a retro-futuristic sports car tied to later story chapters
    • Dinka Enduro motorcycle or Crest Kayak stored at Jason’s safehouse
    • Vapid Ganado low-riding pickup with exclusive visual mods
    • Shitzu Squalo watercraft at Washington Beach, weapons-equipped
    • 67 Vapid Dominator Buggy stored at Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, built for off-road

    Exclusive weapons:

    • Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers, his and hers versions with palm-tree etched grips and engraved detailing
    • Jason’s personalized Girardi ES9 pistol engraved with “Sua Sponte,” the US Army Rangers motto
    • Lucia’s personalized Klose K17 pistol with roses and her signature engraved on the slide. For everything confirmed about her background and role, see our Lucia Caminos full character guide

Exclusive shops (permanently locked for Standard Edition players):

    • Rideout Customs Mod Shop: custom interiors, rims, and donk styling for vehicles
    • Sara’s Unisex Salon: hairstyles for both characters, facial hair for Jason, makeup and nails for Lucia
    • Stock 305 Clothing Store: exclusive streetwear for Jason and Lucia
    • Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor: over 50 signature tattoos designed by artist collective FAILE
    • One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop: off-road mods and hand-painted automotive art in Lake Leonida

These five exclusive shops are among the GTA 6 features players are most excited about ahead of the November launch.

    Exclusive content and missions:

    • Vice City Style outfits and tattoos for both Jason and Lucia
    • Goodtime Gear capsule collection inspired by Macca the Gator from the in-game Goodtime State TV show
    • PTT Youngin$ mission: raid a Southside Vice City gang compound for special items and contraband
    • Classic Car Collection commission: track down and restore abandoned project cars for collector Wyman

    Also included:

    • Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus
    • One month of GTA+ subscription

The Ultimate Edition is digital only. You cannot buy it in a physical box. However, you can buy the Standard Edition physically and upgrade to Ultimate for $20 at any point after launch.

Vintage Vice City Pack Pre-Order Bonus

Every GTA 6 pre-order, Standard and Ultimate, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack automatically on launch day. The only requirement is that you pre-order before November 20, 2026.

    Vintage Vice City Pack includes:

    • 55 Vapid Stanier: A classic sedan stored at the Shore Court personal garage in Ocean Beach. Comes with a weapon locker and a place to fence stolen goods
    • Jason’s linen suit: A vintage pastel outfit inspired by the decade of excess
    • Lucia’s red sequin mini dress: With matching curls, inspired by the original Vice City era
    • Tropical weapon skin: Applies to most firearms, designed after Tommy Vercetti’s iconic palm tree button-up from GTA Vice City

GTA+ Warning: Read Before You Redeem

Both editions include one free month of GTA+, delivered via email after you redeem the game code. Before you claim it, here is what Rockstar does not make obvious:

GTA+ auto-renews automatically. Once you redeem the subscription code, it starts immediately and will charge you monthly unless you cancel. Rockstar sends no reminder before the renewal happens.

You have two options. First, if you want the free month: redeem the GTA+ code, then immediately go to your PlayStation or Xbox subscription settings and cancel the auto-renewal. You keep the benefits for the full month at no charge. Second, if you do not want GTA+ at all: simply do not redeem the subscription code. You keep the game, you just skip the subscription.

The code must be redeemed before March 2027 to claim the free month.

    Where to Pre-Order GTA 6

Now comes the part where you pull the trigger and pre-order GTA 6. As I mentioned earlier, the Standard Edition is available for purchase both digitally and physically (code-in-the-box), while the Ultimate Edition is only available on digital storefronts. With that said, here’s where you can pre-order both GTA 6 editions, along with the Upgrade path for the Ultimate Edition:

    PRE-ORDER LOCATIONSPRICE
Rockstar Games Store (Physical Standard Edition/Digital Standard Edition/Digital Ultimate Edition)$79.99/$79.99/$99.99
PlayStation Store (Digital Standard Edition/Ultimate Edition)$79.99/$99.99
Xbox Store (Digital Standard Edition/Ultimate Edition)$79.99/$99.99
Amazon (Physical Code-In-The-Box Standard Edition for PS5/Xbox Series X|S)$79.99
PlayStation Store Ultimate Edition Upgrade Path (Digital)$20.00 (Standard Edition Required)
Xbox Store Ultimate Edition Upgrade Path (Digital)$20.00 (Standard Edition Required)

You can also ask your local participating retailers for the code-in-the-box physical copy. Regardless of which edition you purchase, you’ll be able to start pre-loading the game on November 12, 2026. Yes, this applies to the physical code-in-the-box version too, since I’m one of the players who have pre-ordered it.

So, you don’t need to worry about falling behind others and getting your copy late. You can also purchase the Standard Edition now (physically/digitally) and upgrade to the Ultimate Edition for $20.00 (digitally) at a later date.

Honestly, I’d say that’s a bargain for the amount of stuff you’re getting with the Ultimate Edition. If you want to fully experience GTA 6 without any restrictions, missing stores and exclusive weapons, outfits, side missions and more, then you should keep your eyes on the Ultimate Edition.

Which GTA 6 Edition Should You Buy?

    • Buy Standard Edition if you are here for the story and open world, you are not interested in cosmetic customization, or you want to wait and see how the game performs before committing the full $99.99.
    • Buy Ultimate Edition if you want everything GTA 6 has to offer, including the five locked shops, exclusive weapons, vehicles, side missions, and the full customization suite. At $99.99 with all that content, it is Rockstar’s most packed edition launch since Red Dead Redemption 2.

For a deeper side-by-side breakdown of every exclusive item, our GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition guide goes through exactly who each edition is worth it for.

The smartest play for most players: Pre-order Standard now to lock in the Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus, then upgrade to Ultimate for $20 at any point after launch once you have seen the game for yourself. You get the pre-order bonus regardless of which edition you start with, and the $20 upgrade path removes any pressure to decide right now.

The upgrade path makes the Standard vs Ultimate debate mostly irrelevant. Four months is plenty of time to make up your mind.

GTA 6 releases November 19, 2026. Pre-orders are live now and the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus expires after November 20. If you are playing at launch, locking in Standard now and upgrading to Ultimate for $20 later is the lowest-risk, highest-value path to the full experience.

    Can I pre-order GTA 6 right now?

Yes. GTA 6 pre-orders are live on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Rockstar Games Store, Amazon, and participating retailers for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

    When does GTA 6 release?

GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026. Preloading begins November 12, 2026 for all pre-orders, including the physical code-in-the-box edition.

Is there a physical disc version of GTA 6?

No. The physical Standard Edition contains a digital download code inside the box, not a disc. You still download the game from your console storefront.

What is included in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?

The Ultimate Edition adds five exclusive in-game shops, five exclusive vehicles, personalized weapons for both Jason and Lucia, exclusive outfits, over 50 tattoos, two side missions, and more. The full list is above.

Can I upgrade from Standard to Ultimate Edition later?

Yes. A $20.00 Ultimate Edition Upgrade is available on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store at any point after you redeem the Standard Edition. No deadline has been announced for this upgrade path.

Does the pre-order bonus require the Ultimate Edition?

No. The Vintage Vice City Pack is included with every pre-order, Standard and Ultimate, as long as you order before November 20, 2026.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

No PC version has been announced by Rockstar. The November 19, 2026 launch is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Based on Rockstar’s history with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, a PC version is expected sometime in late 2027 to 2028, but that is not confirmed.

Does GTA+ auto-renew after the free month?

Yes. The free month of GTA+ included with both editions auto-renews unless you cancel it manually in your PlayStation or Xbox subscription settings. Cancel immediately after redeeming if you do not want to be charged.

Where is the cheapest place to pre-order GTA 6?

The base price is identical across all major storefronts at $79.99 and $99.99. Some local retailers may offer store credit, reward points, or regional discounts. Check your options before committing to one storefront.
