RE9 Requiem has over a million users who have wishlisted the game, indicating the kind of anticipation that the game has been able to generate across the community. These numbers are tracked actively by developers, publishers and the overall gaming industry, and till the time of the game release, form a good proxy to get a sense of the buzz around that game.
CAPCOM put out a message on the Resident Evil official account at X, formerly Twitter, that read
Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the over one million of you who wishlisted #ResidentEvilRequiem! Thank You!
Requiem is the ninth entry in the long-standing, and one of the most recognizable, and profitable franchises for CAPCOM. After a solid last couple of entries, as well as an awesome remaster of the fan favorite RE4, the studio is banking on the game to continue on this momentum.
The game was first announced in the Summer Games Fest this year, and there is a CAPCOM Spotlight event on June 26th, where it is expected that we will get more in-depth details on the story and gameplay. What we know so far is that the protagonist is an FBI agent asked to work on a crime scene that also happens to be the place where her mother passed away 8 years back, and which has ties to the events that unfolded at Raccoon City.
It will be interesting if the pre-orders, editions and pricing details are revealed, and how they measure up against the recent noise around The Outer Worlds 2 & Borderlands 4 pricing.
RE9 Requiem releases on Feb 27th, 2026 for PC, PS5 & Xbox Series S|X.
