After defeating Captain Raphael at the end of Chapter 9: In Ruins, you finally lay your hands on the Relic that Louis was seeking out, only to be captured, and presented in front of Napoleon. He locks you up and takes away all your equipment, till you are woken up by the Shrike, who then hands you the key to unlock your shackles, but nothing beyond that.
This now opens up a stealth run requirement, as you try and avoid the Guardians who will one shot you if you come into their line of vision. This is how Chapter 10: Shackles starts, and the first thing to do to escape from the Prison, is, of course, getting all your precious equipment back.

How to get your equipment back in Chapter 10 | Armoury Key
You first need to get the Armoury Key, and then unlock the Armoury to get your equipment back. While there is an easier path available if you helped the Mice enough number of times by doing all the related side quests, and interactions at the various Burrows, for this guide, we will keep that part aside, and assume that the Mice have decided not to help you.
Take the linear path till you come across a set of stairs. A Guardian would just be crossing across to the room on your left, so wait for that to happen, and then go right.
The path is linear, and the next key point is when you arrive in the area above. Again, wait for the Guardian to go to the room on your left, and then continue on the right.
Now, just past the Nephtoglobin Weak Spot on the left, you will see chains leading right. Note this Weak Spot, and the door straight ahead of you, and remember this spot. Once we get the Armoury Key, this is where we must retrace our steps to, and unlock the door. Now, wait for a moment as a Guardian walks across. Once done, go straight from where he came, and take the steps leading up.
Next, when you come across a set of chains leading to a cell on the left, follow them. The section ahead has 3-4 Guardians together, and there is no way to get past them … on ground.
In this cell, there are crates that you can use to climb on to the narrow beams on the top. These will be your route to escaping this heavily guarded section.
Take a left on the beam, with the Guardians now all below you. Make a jump to the narrow ledge straight ahead.
From here, move to the right a bit, and then align yourself to jump to the next ledge straight ahead. Your objective here is to then go behind the crate below that ledge.
From here, take the right (the door straight ahead is locked it needs the Chapel Key as part of The Choir side quest), and swing across the ledge to the other side.
Hide behind the crate, and as soon as the Guardian turns around and starts walking, follow him, to take a right.
Take the entrance to the highlighted room in the image above, and get the Armoury Key.
With the Armoury Key in your possession, retrace the steps, with just one minor change. If you are not confident of making the jump across the broken beam, go to the left a little, and jump from there. Else, the route remains the same.
Make your way to the door that we had noted earlier. This is the one that we had seen when we had passed the Nephtoglobin Weak Spot on our left, a Guardian crossing ahead of us, and taken the steps leading up.
How to escape the prison in Chapter 10 in Valor Mortis
Now, head back to the Nephtoglobin Weak Spot, and we can now, finally, use our Pistol (or Rapier) to destroy it. Take the left, and burn the Vines to see the most welcome sight of a Lantern.
Jump down, and your escape from the Guardians and Napoleon’s prison is complete. The next section for the chapter is a pretty linear run across enemies that you have seen and taken out many, many, times by now; and some platforming sections. Once these are done, you will get transported back to the Abandoned Church, and be ready to begin the next, and final chapter in Valor Mortis.
