There are several enemies in Windrose, but none might be as annoying as a Boar. This force of nature doesn’t have a lot of health, but it can still be a menace due to its unpredictable and quick attacks. However, you can do some preparations in advance to make the fight against a boar easier.
How To Prepare To Defeat a Boar in Windrose

There are two to three things you should try to accomplish in advance, before engaging in a fight. Firstly, and most importantly, increase your health by using items like Coconuts and other meals. These items increase your maximum health upon consumption, letting you take a few more hits.
Afterwards, you should have some healing items like bandages in stock, and keep a spare tent. The bandages will let you last longer in the fight, while the tent will let you set your revival point.
Lastly, and this is an optional method if you have progressed further into the game, you can use a ranged weapon if you have enough bullets to spare. This will easily dispatch a boar without getting you in harm’s way.
Boar Moveset in Windrose

The boar has a simple but unpredictable moveset that it can use against you. It essentially has two main moves you need to watch out for:
- Single Hit: The boar moves its head to its left side and swings to the right. Holding the block button, or parrying it at the last second, works fine. If you are not confident in your parry timing, blocking should be enough, but note that its shield points will not drop.
- Double Hit: This follows after the Single Hit attack, randomly. This is the harder part of its moveset, which is throwing off beginners. If this happens, you will notice the boar swing its head from right to left, the exact opposite of the Single Hit move. Thus, hold the block button in response, or parry it.
Note: The boar can also charge at you if you get too far away from it. You can easily jump over it to avoid this attack. So, it is advised to stick close if you are using melee. However, if you have a pistol, it is fine to stay away and to keep firing while dodging.
