If you are confused by the Spicy Damage modifier in Vampire Crawlers, do not worry, as you are not alone. This is bonus damage that is mainly dealt through Gems. Think of it as extra damage on top of the damage dealt by your cards.
How To Deal Spicy Damage in Vampire Crawlers
You will need the Nduja Gem to do Spicy Damage. However, unlike common Gems, this Uncommon one requires you to defeat Nesufritto, an optional boss, to be unlocked.
Once you have defeated the boss, this Gem will start appearing randomly upon leveling up and via chests. Select it when it does, and attach it to a card you already have.
Finally, during battle, play the card with the Nduja Gem attached to it to deal Spicy Damage.
Where To Find Nesufritto in Vampire Crawlers
This is an optional chest boss located on the fourth floor of the Inlaid Library. However, do be careful before thinking about approaching this fight.
The boss has 4,000 health, which might pose a problem if you are underleveled or do not have a good set of synergistic cards.
How To Check If You Have Unlocked Nduja Gem in Vampire Crawlers
Go to the Unlocks tab before you start a run. Scroll down until you see the mission ‘Defeat Nesufritto’. The box next to it will indicate whether you have completed the mission or not.

Is Spicy Damage useful in Vampire Crawlers?
From our testing, gems like Double Damage and Might seem to be better, as they increase the base damage of the cards themselves. However, if you are not able to get good synergy between your cards, having a source of damage that deals damage independently can be useful.
How To Defeat Nesufritto in Vampire Crawlers
Nesufritto has two things going for it: its heavy damage and huge health pool. If you are able to deal over 4000 damage in one or two turns, then the fight can be passed safely. However, this will depend a little bit on luck and your cards. Having an Evolved Weapon can also help you achieve this target quickly.
Secondly, the boss hits like a truck as well, at this level. You will definitely not want to get into a war of attrition against this boss. Focus on improving your Armor if possible, but mainly try to get rid of the boss in one or two turns.
