Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will have an enhanced version launching on Xbox Series X|S, GamePass and Steam on Aug 12. The enhanced version will be a free update that will include a Performance mode at 60 FPS, an enhanced Photo Mode, developer commentary, and more interestingly, gameplay additions as well.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II also joins the exclusive for Xbox at launch titles that have made their way to PS5, with 2 editions available for purchase:
- the Standard Edition at $49.99 that includes the base game.
- the Deluxe Edition at $69.99 that includes the base game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade optimized for PS5, and the OST for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade.
For users that had already purchased Senua’s Saga: Hellblade on PS4, they will be able to upgrade to the enhanced version free.
Hellblade II will also now be Steam Deck verified.
On the gameplay addition part, this is what was put out by Xbox:
The Dark Rot from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has returned and offers an additional challenge for Senua on her quest to Iceland in this optional game mode. The Dark Rot will grow each time you fail, and if it reaches Senua’s head, her quest is over and all progress will be lost.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II first released on May 21st 2024 for PC and Xbox, and carried forward Senua’s journey from the first title, set in 9th-century Iceland this time. The game was praised for its significantly improved graphics, but the story and combat were felt to be below par when compared to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
The game currently sits at a score of 81 on Metacritic and a user score of 7.4.
