In Phantom Blade Zero, there are several NPCs that you come across – some who engage with you for most part of the story at different points in time – like Quick Hand Zhang, and Yu’er, and while these are engaging – the game also puts up nice little quests that wrap up within the same region, but give a nice picture into the lives of normal, ordinary folk under the chaotic times where the events of the game take place.
One such quest is about two people – who, even after turning into puppets, end up together – with your help, of course. The quest also drops a pretty powerful accessory, so it is worth putting in the little effort required to complete it.
Here is how to start, progress, and complete A Puppet’s Wooden Heart quest in the Village of Lu in Phantom Blade Zero
Starting A Puppet’s Wooden Heart

Speak to the Songstress Puppet at the Temple of Blue Fireflies. You will come to this location as part of the main quest, and is unmissable. Here, there will be quite a few puppets, one of which will be singing a song, standing in front of a shrine. Wait for the song to get over, and interact with her to begin A Puppet’s Wooden Heart quest.
Step 1 – Delivering the letter to Pei

She requests you to deliver a letter to a certain ‘Pei’. We don’t know at this point who, or where he is, so continue on the main quest till you arrive at the Survivors’ Courtyard – the hub area for the Village of Lu. Here, you will come across a Wailing Scholar, who, is the ‘Pei’ she wants us to hand the letter to.
Step 2 – Finding Pei’s Body

Do that, and at this point, in disbelief, Pei will die. Return to the Qingniang – the Songstress Puppet, to see both of them talking to each other, but having forgotten who they are. The quest updates to finding Pei’s body.

Go to the Terraces bell, in the direction of the location marked on the map. Take the path to the first field, then the ledge on the right to the second field. Near a campfire, you will find Pei’s body, with a note clutched in his hand. Collect the Songstress Puppet’s Letter Note – which tells us that Qingniang will remain waiting for him at the place they pledged their love to each other – which, happens to be the Temple of Blue Fireflies.
Completing A Puppet’s Wooden Heart

Return there once again to the Songstress Puppet, where you will find both of them in an embrace, turned into puppets, but seemingly at peace. This completes the quest, and you get, well, A Puppet’s Wooden Heart accessory as the reward.
This is an especially useful one if you are liking the idea of summoning to keep your enemies distracted and occupied, as you rain in your attacks on them. The accessory, when equipped, increases summon duration by 25%.
Getting the accessory also counts towards the region completion for Village of Lu in Phantom Blade – so, if you are gunning for 100% – then completing this side quest is essential.
