Onimusha Way of the Sword, in between it’s frantic and tough boss fights; as well as long dungeon runs in main missions, steadily keeps opening up areas in East Kyoto for collectibles, upgrade items, and quests that lead to hidden treasures.
There are 5 quests in total in the Hidden Treasure series of quests, and these will keep showing up on the map as you progress the main story. Even if you keep them pending, you can do all of those before the main mission ‘Clash at Rendaino’ which is the point of no return for the game.
In this guide, I have put up the locations as well as all rewards that you get on completing this Hidden Treasure quests in Onimusha WotS.
Hidden Treasure #1
Clue: ‘At the top of Kiyomizu-zaka Slope.
- Start from the Kiyomizu-zaka Slope Shrine Mirror.
- Go behind the Shrine, and you will see a ladder on your left to the roof of a building.
- Take that ladder, and then the one on it’s right to the roof of the adjoining building.
- Your gauntlet will begin to glow. Use your Oni Vision, to conjure up the chest.
- Loot it to complete Hidden Treasure # 1
Rewards: Fine Silk Cloth * 1, Oni Stone * 2.
Hidden Treasure #2
Clue: Where the Buddhas overlook the flow.
- Start from the Yasaka Pagoda Shrine Mirror.
- Head straight, and then take a right till you come to a stream flowing below.
- Jump down, and the gauntlet will begin to glow.
- Right at the place where the mini waterfall flows into the stream, you will be able to get the chest.
- Loot it to complete Hidden Treasure #2.
Rewards: Fine Silk Cloth * 2, Oni Stone * 2
Hidden Treasure #3
Clue: At the temple where the dragons soar.
- Start from the Kamo River East Spirit Mirror.
- Take the path straight ahead to reach the location I have shown in the image above.
- Enter the temple, and take the first right, just before the second entrance straight ahead.
- You will arrive at a closed gate, and the gauntlet will begin to glow.
- Loot the chest to complete Hidden Treasure #3.
Rewards: Fine Silk Cloth * 2, Oni Stone * 2
Hidden Treasure #4
Clue: The mountain temple of the dead.
Start from the Gojo Street East Shrine Mirror
Traverse the entire route including the wall running sections that you used when covering the main quest here; to reach the point that I have shown in the image below. The Hidden Treasure #5 will be behind the building.
Rewards: Fine Silk Cloth * 2, Power Stone * 2, Tamahagane * 1
Hidden Treasure #5
Clue: The highest place in the capital
This is the easiest one to find. Start from the Yasaka Pagoda Shrine Mirror, enter into the compound, and then the building on the right. You will find a series of stairs inside, keep taking them till you reach the highest point. Use the broken fence to jump on to the roof. Take care of the few enemies that line up here, and you will see the Gauntlet glowing. Loot the chest to complete Hidden Treasure #5.
The roof, and the building also has some goodies, so if you have not looted them before, you can get them now. You will get an especially precious Mirror of Revival from the rooftop – this gives you a free revive when you die in battle. This is invaluable against tough upcoming enemies like Yoshitsune, and more so if you are looking for a fresh run in Carnage mode.
