How to Get Anomaly Points in Digimon Story Time Stranger

By Jorge AguilarOctober 3, 20254 Mins Read

Anomaly Points are a super important resource in Digimon Story: Time Stranger. They’re basically the fuel for a ton of your progression and how you customize your experience.

You use them to unlock and level up Agent Skills, which are special abilities for your main character. Essentially, Anomaly Points let you totally tailor your gameplay experience by boosting your Digimon’s capabilities and unlocking those higher-tier evolutions through a layered progression system tied to your Agent’s development.

Getting Anomaly Points is super important in Digimon Story: Time Stranger because they’re the key to making your characters stronger and unlocking awesome Digimon. You mostly get these points by finishing different missions in the game, and that includes both the main story and the side missions.

If you just keep moving through the main story, you’ll be consistently picking up these points, and sometimes you’ll even get multiple point bonuses from a few cutscenes back-to-back. On the other hand, if you only rely on the main story, you’re not going to max out your Anomaly Point stash. The side missions are a big deal here, and I’d highly recommend you tackle them as soon as they pop up because a ton of them hand out Anomaly Points as a reward.

Now, to be fair, the game does say that you won’t permanently miss out on side missions even if you progress further in the main story. But, prioritizing them when they’re available will really speed up your Agent Rank progression, which is directly tied to how many Anomaly Points you’ve dumped into your Agent Skill tree.

Agent Rank is essential because specific Digivolutions are locked behind certain rank thresholds. We’re talking Ranks 3, 5, 7, and even Rank 8 for some of the top-tier Digimon. By consistently earning and allocating Anomaly Points, you can swiftly raise your Agent Rank, giving you earlier access to those stronger Digimon forms. This becomes especially important when you’re up against a tough boss or if you want to snag an Ultimate-level Digimon sooner rather than later.

Sometimes just moving between the explorable zones after you finish a side mission can trigger new side quests to appear, giving you even more chances to get those sweet Anomaly Points. Basically, you need a diligent approach to both your main and side content to stack up these valuable points and make your Digimon team much faster overall.

In the new Digimon Story: Time Stranger, Anomaly Points are super important for leveling up your Agent Rank and unlocking powerful Agent Skills, which directly boost your Digimon’s growth and Digivolution potential. You mainly get these points by completing both the main story missions and side quests.

The game really wants you to finish every side mission you come across, as they’re a huge source of Anomaly Points, and skipping them is definitely going to slow down how fast you progress. The developers even mentioned that you won’t miss out forever; opportunities for side missions will reappear if you advance the story without doing them, but to be fair, you should tackle them right away so you can maximize your power sooner rather than later.

The Agent Skills system is split into five different skill grids: Valor, Philanthropy, Amicability, Wisdom, and Bonds of Loyalty. The first four are mostly focused on boosting the stats of Digimon that share their respective Personality groups. For example, if you invest your points in Valor skills, you’ll generally strengthen your Valor-type Digimon, and the same goes for Wisdom skills benefiting Wisdom-type personalities.

When you’re spending your Anomaly Points, the advice is to specialize in two or three of those Personality-based categories instead of trying to be completely well-rounded from the get-go. This kind of strategic investment lets you build some seriously strong teams in specific areas, which is a huge advantage in battle.

On the other hand, the Bonds of Loyalty tree offers general enhancements that are beneficial to all your Digimon, no matter what their personality is. So make sure to be ready to use Anomaly Points in Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
