    Escape the Backrooms – All Level Objectives (Including Hidden Levels) & How to complete

    Key Points:

    • Here, we will have to complete 27 main levels (Six Secret Levels) to beat the game.
    • Most achievements are obtainable right away; one is missable. But it will be easier to obtain since it involves the first chapter.
    • The game has four secret endings that need to be completed to unlock the final ending.

    Here, we will cover all the objectives of all levels in Escape the Backrooms. We will also cover all the hidden stages that you must finish to unlock the true ending to the game.

    Level 0

    • Threat – None
    • Achievements: Escape Level 0 – Completing the level/ Survivalist – Stay in the level for 15 minutes.

    You must find four ladders and put them next to the vent to grab a key. Then open a brown door with the key.

    Level 1 – The Habitable Zone

    • Threat – Skin-Stealer x1
    • Achievements: Escape the Habitable Zone – Completing the level.

    The Habitable Zone has three stages, each amping up the difficulty and monsters.

    • First Stage: Here, you just have to count the color of the cars to open up the elevator.
    • Second Stage: You will need to find four keys to open the door to the next stage. Here you will encounter Skin-Stealer. If you notice this creature, quickly get inside any room and close the door.
    • Third Stage: Prepare to grab a flashlight. Here, you have to find an elevator behind a door in a pitch-dark parking lot.

    The Hub

    Escape the Backrooms Smilies habitable zone

    Threat – Smiler/ Ghost Smiler x1

    Achievements: Escape The Hub – Completing the level.

    The elevator will take you to the Hub area. Here, you will need to activate the M.E.G. door to get inside the next room. Type in the password “itheardyou” on any of the computers, then click on Gate.exe, and run the software. This will open the gate in the elevator room.

    Go back to the elevator room and open the shutter to another parking lot. The route here is straightforward, just avoid the creatures by taking refuge in the light on the side. On your right, you will find a door that leads to the Pipe Dreams.

    The hub acts as a central point that connects to most levels in the game. Some levels will have a permanent exit and an alternative exit. Finding the alternative exit on the map will help you connect that level to the hub area.

    Level 2- Pipe Dreams

    • Threat – Smiler x1
    • Achievements: Escape Level 2 – Completing the level.

    Once you spawn in the level, start moving to your left. After a while, a smiler will rush at you behind your back. Now all you have to do is run until you see an opening on your left. Once you see the opening, jump to complete the stage.

    If you go to the right, you will see the Fun sign; watch out for a Smiler waiting at the end.

    Level 3- Electrical Station

    • Threat – Hound x9
    • Achievements: Escape Level 3 – Completing the level.

    Here, you need to activate nine separate fuse boxes to open the door to the abandoned office. The area will be infested with hounds; you can point a flashlight at them to blind them, giving you enough time to make a run to the objective.

    Make sure to open all the doors in the area to find nine fuse boxes in total. Each fuse box will have a small mini game to turn the red light above the boxes from red to green. Once the fuse box turns green, move on to the next one.

    Level 4 – Abandoned Office

    • Threat – Window Monsters
    • Achievements: Escape Level 4 – Completing the level.

    The area has two stages, but it is fairly safe unless you lean next to the windows.

    • First Stage: Here, you just have to solve the vending machine puzzle to access the next area.
    • Second Stage: Avoid security cameras to open the exit. If you do get spotted, then you will need to find a camera button at the start of the level and do the run again.

    Level 5 – Terror Hotel

    Escape the Backroos Terror Hotel
    • Threat – Male Deathmoths x15/ Skin-Stealer x1/ Hound x1/ Female Deathmoth x9
    • Achievements: Escape Level 0 – Completing the level

    The hotel has three separate stages, each one amping up its difficulty and monsters.

    • First Stage: Solve the Painting puzzle to get to the next section of the hotel.
    • Second Stage: Put Moth Jelly in the containers to get 3x keys. Use these to open the door in the middle to the next room.
    • Third Stage: Now you need to find the letters in the rooms. Then, put the letters in the mailbox at the entrance to get the password.

    Level Fun

    • Threat – Partygoer x27
    • Achievements: Escape Level Fun – Completing the level

    Just avoid the monsters and crouch your way to the exit. You can pop balloons in this area to distract the enemies. Don’t run, unless your partner has distanced the enemy.

    Tip: You must complete this mission as stealthily as possible; getting detected is the last thing you want to do in this level.

    Level 37 – The Poolrooms

    • Threat – Hydrolitis Plague x3
    • Achievements: Escape The Poolrooms – Completing the level

    This might have the appearance of a monster-filled level, but it’s mostly empty. You can freely roam around without worrying about any monsters. Just get to the exit to complete the level, avoid the hot water in the area, and you will be fine.

    Level! – Run for your Life!

    • Threat – Smiler x1/ Partygoer x6
    • Achievements: Escape Level !– Completing the level

    Like the name states, all you have to do is run; there is no puzzle, but only monsters. Just run, make sure not to stumble and get stuck behind an object. The only exit is waiting for you at the end, so run without looking back.

    The End

    • Threat – Scratcher x1
    • Achievements: Escape Level The End – Completing the level

    Here you will need to find many video tapes and interact with the computer in the middle of the room to open the locked door on the right.

    • Singleplayer Requirements – x24 Video Tapes
    • Two Player Requirements- x32 Video Tapes
    • Three to Four Players Requirements- x48 Video Tapes

    Level 94

    Escape the Backrooms Level 94
    • Threat – Animation/ The Animated King
    • Achievements: Escape Level 94 – Completing the level

    Here we are dealing with two stages, the first stage is a difficult obstacle for this level, compared to the second one.

    • First Stage: You need to make your way to the floating castle at a distance. You will find a rope underneath the floating castle that you can use to get up.

    But the journey will be long, once the sun goes down, immediately enter any one of the houses and hide in the closet. And make sure to drink plenty of Almond Water to avoid going insane.

    Note: You will only encounter the monsters at night, so avoid the night by staying inside. A full day lasts for 3 minutes and a night lasts for 1 minute.

    • Second Stage: Just push the cubes into specific spots in the room. Each cube will have a picture of a Star, a Circle, a Square, and the last cube will have all of them. You need to push them and place them on the floor with the same design pattern as the cube’s symbol.

    Level 6 – Lights Out

    • Threat – Wretch x1
    • Achievements: Escape Level 6 – Completing the level

    You will get a LiDAR scanner that will help you go through the dark room. Flashlight will not work for this special dark room in this area; you must use the scanner to shoot dots and make your way to the exit. While there is a monster lurking around, the biggest threat is the Sanity meter.

    Level 7- Thalassophobia

    • Threat – The Thing x1
    • Achievements: Escape Level 7 – Completing the level

    The first stage you spend on the water, and the second stage will take you under the water.

    • First Stage: Get on the boat and hit all the houses. You want a Flare Gun to help you out in the latter section of the game.

    Once the fog settles in, use the Flare Gun to see the light coming out of a lighthouse at a distance. Once you reach the lighthouse, you will find a Shark Tank with diving helmets on the wooden floor.

    • Second Stage: Wear the Diving Helmets and go down the Shark Tank. Now your objective is to swim around and find a huge rocky structure, get inside, and you will get to the next level.

    Note: You will only encounter the monster at the water level.

    Level 8- Cave System

    • Threat – Female Deathmoths x8/ Skin-Stealer x2
    • Achievements: Escape Level 8 – Completing the level

    Get to the end of the cave without getting caught by Deathmoths and Skin-Stealers. Unlike your previous encounter with Skin-Stealers, these ones will have flashlights with them, making them easier to spot and avoid.

    Level 0.11

    • Threat – Howler x1
    • Achievements: Escape Level 188 – Completing the level

    Here, you have to pull four levers to open a shutter at the end of the room. Each lever will turn on one light, but there is a timer attached to each lever.

    The lever will slowly go back to its original position, giving you only an ample amount of time to find the next three. And you have to do all that while avoiding a monster, which you can hide from by going into the ground vents.

    Level 9 Darkened Suburbs

    Escape the Backroosm Darkened Suburbs
    • Threat – The Neighborhood Watchx1 / Wretch x6/ Male Deathmoth x6
    • Achievements: Escape Level 9 – Completing the level

    Here we have two stages, both of which are quite difficult, since the level involves a lot of roaming around without getting caught by any monsters.

    • First Stage: You must interact with three computers in three different houses to open the M.E.G outpost in the middle of the town. Note the house with the computer will have Wretch roaming around.

    Note: After closing the door, use the lock, or Wretch can easily go inside.

    • Second Stage: You will need to recover or retrieve a special key card from a Wretch. Since we can’t kill a monster, we have to set up a trap for it.

    You will need 4 cans of Almond Concentrate and put them in the machine at the entrance. This machine will be used to trap the Wretch. Now you need to lure the Wretch to step into the spot to capture him.

    Now pull the propane gas tank on the side ot freeze the freezer and loot the key. With the key in hand, go back to the previous area, and you will find the terminal at the back of the M.E.G outpost.

    Level 10

    Escape the Backrooms LEvel 10 Farmlands
    • Threat – Faceling
    • Achievements: Escape Level 10 – Completing the level

    Now you are in the farm land, walk through the maze and turn the windmill at a distance. You need to turn on all the windmills in the area to get to the next stage.

    The windmills will be seen as a red light at a distance, follow the light, and avoid the Facelings. Once you interact with a windmill, the red lights at the top will turn green.

    Level 3999

    • Threat – None
    • Achievements: Escape Level 3999 – Completing the level

    You will find an elevator in the room that requires a specific code. You will find a ticket in the room with the code 9-3-1. Insert the code next to the elevator to activate it.

    The code doesn’t have any RNG mechanics to it. We will be coming back to this level later on in the game since it’s the last level that unlocks the final true ending of the game.

    Level 0.2

    • Threat – Bone Thief
    • Achievements: Escape Level 0.2 – Completing the level

    When you spawn in the area, you will see a large opening on the left with many stop signs next to it. The exit is across the spot, so if you go directly to the exit, the Bone Thief or the monster will come out of the opening area and devour you instantly.

    You will need to activate five fuse boxes to release the steel barricade that closes the Bone Thief’s entrance. So you can safely go to the exit.

    The Snackrooms

    • Threat – None
    • Achievements: Escape The Snackrooms – Completing the level

    Here you will find a typewriter in the room, and the note to solve it on the table across the typewriter. Press the code 3-7-5-2 on the typewriter to open the door.

    Note: The code doesn’t have an RNG system to it; it stays the same for all of your future runs.

    Level !-! – Hotel Chase

    • Threat – Clump x1/ Smiler x6
    • Achievements: Escape Level!-! – Completing the level

    Prepare for a long chase. Don’t worry, you have unlimited stamina to reach the end. Here, don’t get stuck on the door or take the wrong corner. On your first time, the entire level will be filled with trial and error. Get to the end of the level to complete it.

    Level 188

    • Threat – Aranea Membri and Window Monsters

    Drag three sets of TVs (A/ B/ C) and place them next to the window on the first floor. Once all TVs are properly placed, the door will open to the courtyard. Here, jump to the right to get to the next level.

    Level 37.2 – Dark Poolrooms

    • Threat – Clump and Hydrolitis Plague

    In this mission, you will have to navigate on your floating boat to the end of the room. But on your way to the end, you must turn on valves and complete a lot of water tanks on the side to bring the water to the optimal level for your boat to go through.

    Level Fun+

    Escape the Backrooms LEvel Fun + ball room
    • Threat – Partygoer and Party Host

    Once you spawn in the large room, you will see four separate ways to your left and right. Each route will take you to a key that we need to open the large door in the large room.

    After you obtain a key, the gate at the route entrance will drop and close the access. Think of each route, all four of them, as a level entrance. Once the gate falls, it is an indicator that you have solved a level.

    You need to retrieve four keys from each room. If you fail to do so, you can see the entrance gate as an indicator of whether the key has been obtained or not. If you can’t see the steel barricade blocking the path to the small room, then the room still has the key inside it.

    Level 52

    • Threat – Partygoer and Partypooper
    • Achievements: Escape Level 52 – Completing the level

    Just follow the man with a flashlight to get to the last area. While there are monsters in the area, as long as you follow the man, you will be fine.

    Level 55.1

    Escape the Backrooms Level 55.1 Camera object
    • Threat – Howler x1/ Smilers (Infinite)/ Skin-Stealer x1
    • Achievements: Escape Level 55.1 – Find the Exit

    Get your camera ready, you need to take a picture of the object’s photo attached to the camera. Go down the elevator in the middle of the room to find the object. And take a picture, every time you take a picture, the object in the photo will change to the next one.

    After you have taken all the pictures, the gate on the ceiling over the elevator will open, allowing you to take the elevator to the top.

    Note: You can use the camera to take a picture of the smile to make it disappear.

    • The first picture will be about the characters
    • The second picture is about a blocked-off construction area
    • The third picture will show a van
    • Fourth will be about a Howler
    • The fifth one will have three sets of Moai Statues.
    • The sixth photo will be about a Skin-Stealer.

    You will also get the Squad achievement for beating the game on Normal difficulty. If you are playing on Easy, then you will unlock the Participation Trophy; on Hard difficulty, you will unlock the Group Effort achievement. And lastly, on Nightmare difficulty, you will unlock the Nightmare achievement.

    All Secret Level and Ending in Escape the Backrooms

    Escape the Backrooms Main Ending Level 3999 Escaped!

    Level 55.1.| Wrong Door Ending

    The last level of the game is “Level 55.1.” Completing this level will unlock the Wrong Door ending (Default Ending). You can’t miss this ending, since it is part of the story-related ending.

    Level 92233| Suburbs Ending

    Escape the Backrooms Suburbs Ending
    • Threat – None
    • Achievements: Escape Level 9223372036854775807 – Find the Exit

    You can access this level by heading to the upper floor in the garage section in the Habitable Zone (Level 1).

    You must head up the parking ramp slope to the upper floor. Here you will come across an M.E.G door. Now equip the Key Card (Pressing C on keyboard) to unlock a M.E.G door to Level 92233.

    Level 974| Pink House Ending

    • Threat – Kitty
    • Achievements: Escape Level 974 – Find the Exit

    Go to the Hub area, then enter the Level 6 room. Here, you use your Lidar machine to get to the end of the level. But instead of going down the stairs, use the Key Card on the M.E.G door on the left. You will get to Level 974.

    Overgrowth and Grasrooms| Empty City Ending

    Escaped the Backrooms Empty City Ending
    • Threat – Howler x5/ Bone Thief x1/ Wanderer x4
    • Achievements: Escape the Death Slides and Escape the Grassrooms

    You must finish the entire game to unlock these two regions. Once you beat the game, it will take you to the Bunker level. It acts as a hub area to three special levels:

    • Overgrowth > Grassroom
    • Level 3999
    • The Hub area (Main Mission Levels)

    You can only access the Grassrooms after you complete the Overgrowth level.

    Level 3999| Final Escape Ending

    • Threat – None
    • Achievements: Escaped!– Complete the game on any difficulty

    This requires the completion of all four endings: Wrong Door Ending, Suburbs Ending, Pink House Ending, and Empty City Ending to unlock the Final Escape Ending.

    Head to the Bunker area, then take the elevator to Level 3999. Once you are in the arcade game zone, play the “Level 3999” game to unlock the Final Escape Ending.

    Other Hidden Levels

    Level You Cheated

    After you place all three A, B, and C TV sets next to the window with the blue curtains, the door will open to the left. This will take you to the outside area, where the monster will spawn next to the door.

    You can slip past the Aranea Membri monster by hiding behind the pillars around it. Open the door behind the monster to get to the hidden level, Level You Cheated.
