Dispatch – Answer the Reporter or Attack or Leave?

By Amar DeogaonkarOctober 23, 20253 Mins Read

    Snapshot Summary

    • The third question in the press conference will be remembered by the public and will have consequences.
    • You can opt to Answer, Attack, or Leave – each with its own impact on your reputation.
    • Answering the question will earn you a positive reputation, attacking will lower it, and it will remain unchanged if you leave.

The press conference is a pretty nerve-wracking scene in the early chapters of Dispatch. This is the scene where you really start digging into the emotional backstory of our protagonist, Rober Robertson, aka Mecha Man.

Dispatch – Answer the Reporter vs Attack vs Leave Explained

AnswerAnswering the question with honesty and integrity will silence the reporters. However, the anchor will claim that Mecha Man is a quitter, with public opinion being that he should’ve died instead of being a coward.+ Reputation
AttackGetting off the stage and kicking Kingsley will result in him getting more publicity and public sympathy. However, while you lose reputation, it does seem that the crowd was on board with Robert kicking Kingsley for more than 5 minutes.– Reputation
LeaveLeaving without answering the question will lead to a news anchor calling him a quitter, with public opinion being that he should’ve died instead of being a coward. Neutral Reputation

Dispatch – When does the Answer the Reporter or Attack or Leave trigger?

Having narrowly escaped from the Shroud, you will be thrown into another kind of battle – a press conference. With his Mecha Suit destroyed and having spent months in a coma, Robert finally wakes up to face the press.

The first two questions asked by the reporters will have no consequences. The choices you make will result simply in the progression of the story. However, the third question – an emotionally charged one – which was asked by Charles Kingsley, will have some serious consequences.

When the reporters ask Robert if his Mecha Suit is beyond repair or if he’s taking early retirement, Robert will simply brush them off. However, Charles Kingsley, almost trying to get a rise out of him, will invoke his dead father and accuse Robert of failing to avenge him.

Kingsley will ask a charged question, asking Robert why he did not avenge his father. He also questions why the Shroud did not kill Robert. Accusing that his father and grandfather must be rolling over in their graves, Kingsley blames Robert for destroying their legacy.

Now, you (as Robert) are presented with three options: Answer, Attack, or Leave.

    FAQs

What’s the best choice between Attack Vs Answer Vs Leave?

While there is no ‘right’ answer, we recommend sticking with answering the question. Robert answers the question in all sincerity and humility, causing his reputation to go up. You don’t want people to think of you as a washed-up nepo baby, do you?

Will my choice have an immediate impact on the gameplay?

No. The game will go on in the same way, regardless of your choice. However, this choice will affect your long-term progress. It will change the public’s perception of you. In terms of gameplay, you will still be met with some punks breaking into an electronics store while you are watching the televised press conference in the storefront.
