Summary
- You can use banner pikes to pole vault in Crimson Desert.
- You will have to equip any banner pike and jump twice to perform a pole vault.
- This is not just a useful mechanic to cross walls, but also needed to complete a training challenge.
If you have seen the footage for Crimson Desert before its release, you might have seen Kliff performing a pole vault. Although if you have tried to do so in-game with a spear, then you must have been disappointed that there is no such mechanic.
However, we have found out that you can indeed pole vault in Crimson Desert, as long as you equip the right item and press the correct buttons.
How To Pole Vault in Crimson Desert

Follow these steps to initiate this jump:
- Equip any banner pike or have one in your inventory. From our testing, this only seems possible with a banner pike.
- From the equipment wheel, select the banner pike.
- Now, press the normal attack button once to take it out (equipping it will also automatically take it out).
- Finally, start moving in whichever direction you want to initiate this jump.
- While moving, double-tap the jump button (X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation, and Spacebar on Keyboard).
If you have any banner pike and are moving while pressing double jump, there should be no issues in doing this action.
Note: You do not need to be running to perform a pole vault. Simply moving in any direction is enough.

Why Do You Need To Pole Vault in Crimson Desert

This is a fun mechanic that can be used to reach high places. Its most obvious use would be to cross high walls and barriers to infiltrate fortresses. However, that is not the end.
Lastly, you will also need to pole vault using any banner pike to complete a Sealed Abyss Artifact Training challenge.

How To Complete the Rainbow Across the Sky Challenge in Crimson Desert

The challenge reads as follows:
Use a banner pike to pole vault 5 times in 30 seconds.
Although this sounds like a tough challenge, it’s quite simple to complete. All you need to do is pick an empty and flat area with plenty of running space. Howling Hills is an accessible location that fits these criteria.
Now, follow the instructions mentioned above to perform a pole vault. Repeat this step five times to complete this challenge. 30 seconds is more than enough to complete it, with some time remaining. You will get an Abyss Artifact upon clearing this challenge, which is a nice reward for such an easy challenge.
