How to Deal with Fire in Tavern Keeper

By Amar DeogaonkarNovember 6, 20255 Mins Read

    Snapshot Summary

    • Use the Flammability overlay tool and maintain cleanliness to prevent fires.
    • Purchase and install firefighting equipment to deal with the fire.
    • Manage the tavern’s temperature in hot environments to prevent fires from breaking out.

Fire is one of the serious threats to your progress in Tavern Keeper. If kept unchecked, it can ruin your tavern, threaten the well-being of both your patrons and employees, and burn your entire establishment to the ground. To ensure smooth sailing and happy faces all around, use these fire prevention and firefighting tips.

How to Prevent a Fire in Tavern Keeper?

Take preventive measures so you don’t even have to deal with the fire in Tavern Keeper!

Be mindful of the Tavern layout

Fire hazards in Tavern Keeper are primarily caused by placing flammable furniture pieces and other flammable objects too close to an open flame. Open flames include lighting sources, fireplaces, stoves, and hearths. Use the Flammability Overlay Tool in the game’s Build Menu to identify the problem areas. Using this tool, you can clearly see the areas with higher fire risk. A simple rule of thumb is, don’t crowd the space, and keep the wooden furniture away from open flames.

    Maintain cleanliness

Cleanliness is extremely important when it comes to fire risks. In Tavern Keeper, too much dirt is a fire hazard. Use multiple janitors and welcome mats to minimize the dirt and lower the fire risk. Read our complete guide on maintaining cleanliness to understand all preventive measures.

    Manage temperature inside the Tavern

When you move on to your third tavern in Gugamush, things will start heating up. Gugamush, home to the orcs, has an arid, desert-like climate. Volatile items, such as experimental barrels, should be placed in a storeroom. We also recommend installing cooling devices in the storeroom, as well as in the highly congested areas in your tavern.

How to Fight the Fire in Tavern Keeper?

Prevention is always better than, well, fire. However, there may be instances when the fire inevitably breaks out, despite your best efforts. In such cases, you can use your firefighting gear to put the fire out.

    Purchase Firefighting Gear

Purchase and install multiple pieces of firefighting gear, such as fire extinguishers. Ensure that you install this equipment in places that are easily accessible for your staff. When a fire breaks out, your staff will automatically start using them to put out the fire. However, if you place them too close together, your staff might not be able to access them, and certain areas of your Tavern may burn to the ground. So, spread the fire extinguishers out throughout your Tavern.

    Stock up on Existinguishing Agents

The fire extinguishers in Tavern Keeper need to be refilled after they are used. Make sure that you stock up on enough extinguishing agents, i.e., Extinguisher Barrels. Once a fire breaks out, your staff will rush to extinguish it using fire extinguishers. Once they are empty, your staff will automatically go to these barrels to refill them and repeat the process. So, place these barrels in areas that your staff can easily access.

Maintain a sufficient number of staff

Your staff, armed with fire extinguishers, is your only line of defense in case of a fire. Ensure that you keep a sufficient number of staff (at least 7-8 per shift) so you have enough hands to help you defeat the fire. Also, make sure that you have set up a robust worker schedule, so that none of your staff members is overwhelmed when an emergency breaks out.

    FAQs

Are there any mandatory firefighting events?

Yes. There are some mandatory firefighting events in Tavern Keeper. The game does trigger some fires (which you cannot prevent) as part of the main story events or Storybook events. In these cases, such as a fire that breaks out during the Harvest Festival challenge, you have no choice but to fight the fire. Follow all the steps detailed in the firefighting section of this guide to stay on top of it.

What’s the best place to store Fire Extinguisher Barrels?

Your Storeroom is the best place to store these barrels. Your staff can easily access them, and your patrons won’t be going in there to create any messes. Make sure that you stock up on at least 4-5 of them.

How to monitor my Tavern’s flammability?

Whenever you go into the Build Mode and add or rearrange anything in your tavern, make sure to check the flammability. Use the game’s Flammability Overlay Tool every time you add some new furniture or place new fire sources to see if the flammability of your establishment has increased.

Is there a way to manually operate a fire extinguisher?

No. You cannot manually operate a fire extinguisher in Tavern Keeper. When a fire breaks out, your employees will automatically fight it. Just make sure that they have enough extinguishers, as well as refill barrels.
