Raising friendships in Tales of the Shire is a crucial task and helps to move the story forward. By increasing your friendship levels with 15 target local NPCs (Townsfolk Hobbits), you become a core member of the Bywater Village and unlock exciting rewards.
While the process takes a while, it helps to move the story forward, and also recompense you for the effort you put into the game. So here’s how to boost friendships with the Townsfolk in Tales of the Shire, and also a look into the rewards you receive for the same.
Best ways to Raise Friendship levels in Tales of the Shire

Complete Quests from Multiple NPCs
As you meet new NPCs within Bywater, you will receive various quests to complete daily. These include a variety of activities such as fetching items, finding resources, and completing story quests.
Organize Shared Meals for Bywater NPCs
Organizing “Shared Meals” is one of the best ways to impress a Hobbit in Tales from the Shire. Start by interacting with the Writing Desk to select a meal to offer to a Hobbit NPC. There are various venues within the game, of which two are ideal for early to mid-game.
The Three-Farthing Stone is in the north-east part of the map, and is large enough for four people to share delicious meals. However, your dinner table has space for two people to share meals. It’s a quick process to welcome your neighbors and share a meal. Also, makes sure they like the shared meal.
The best part is that the higher the “delicious rating” of your meal, the more Friendship points you’ll get from the shared meal. The better the ingredients, the more delicious the rating you’ll get for your meals.

How to Get Basic Gifts From Friends

How to Get Special Gifts From Friends
If your meal has a high deliciousness score, then a satisfied Hobbit will offer you a special piece of furniture as a reward. High deliciousness is possible by foraging high-quality ingredients to cook with. You should aim for this reward level.
How to Get Milestone Rewards From Friends
Milestone Rewards unlock after you reach a higher Friendship level (Levels 3, 6, and 10) with an NPC. These rewards include:
- Trading with the Hobbit
- Shopping for upgrades, if they are a vendor within the town
- Finding new fishing locations
- Foraging for high-quality ingredients
Friendship Tales
Friendship Tales unlock when you reach Friendship Milestones. You receive a short side quest, which includes speaking to the Hobbit to complete it.
