Mycopunk: All 4 Free Upgrades in the Hub

By RishiJuly 18, 20253 Mins Read

In Mycopunk, it’s helpful to get a head start before diving deep into missions, and the four free upgrades in the Hub offer exactly that. These early pickups aren’t tied to specific classes or progression paths, which makes them useful no matter how you’re playing. Each one is hidden in a different part of the Hub, and while they’re easy to miss, they’re well worth grabbing before you gear up for more difficult expeditions.

On that note, here’s a walkthrough on where to find every free upgrade hidden inside the Hub.

Upgrade #1: Inside the Kitchen Vent

Once you spawn into the Hub, your first upgrade is actually very close by. Head down the stairs, and look to the left, you’ll see the kitchen area. Just beside it is a vent entrance. Hop inside the vent and crawl to the end. There, you’ll find your first upgrade box. Punch it to collect the upgrade.

Upgrade #2: Above the Spawn Area

For the second upgrade, return to where you spawned and look above your room, near the Server Access door. This is the same area used to unlock the secret weapon ‘Carver’. Climb the metal bars to the right side of your spawn location. As you move up, you’ll spot a box sitting at the top. Once again, punch the box to claim the upgrade.

It may take a bit of climbing, but it’s easily accessible and hard to miss once you reach the ledge.

Upgrade #3: Hidden in the Metal Beam

After grabbing the second upgrade, look out over the rusty silver scaffolding that stretches in front of you. Head down this structure, and as you descend, keep an eye to your left. About halfway down, you’ll pass a second metal support beam. This one has a hidden compartment inside. Jump across to it, and inside, you’ll find your third upgrade.

This one is more tucked away than the others, but as long as you’re scanning the beams as you move, it shouldn’t be too difficult to locate.

Upgrade #4: Beneath the Recreation Sphere

The final upgrade is located underneath the Recreation Sphere. There are a few ways to reach the lower area, but the most direct method is by using the floor controls nearby.

Head to the control panels and pull the lever on the left side as shown in the image, which lowers the floor to reveal the platform beneath the sphere. Once you’re down there, check the left side near the metal pipes, and you’ll see a fourth upgrade box waiting for you. Like the others, punch it to collect the reward.

If you get stuck below after collecting it, don’t worry, the platform closes behind you, but there are multiple ways out. The fastest option we recommend is to open the menu, go to Crew, and choose Self Destruct from the bottom-left corner. This returns you safely to the Hub without needing to reload the entire game.

This concludes our guide on obtaining all 4 Free Upgrades in the Hub: Mycopunk. These boxes don’t give predetermined rewards, but once claimed, they won’t respawn. Still, they offer an excellent early boost, especially before your first few missions.
