Marvel Rivals continues to evolve with every balance patch and new hero addition, which means the meta in June 2026 looks very different from what players experienced just a few months ago. Hence, remaining up to date with the current balance changes and meta is a must.

And what better way to learn it than a character tier list? To create this June 2026 Marvel Rivals tier list, I considered multiple factors, including ranked performance, pick and ban trends, recent balance changes, and overall effectiveness in coordinated and solo-queue environments.

While player skill can make any hero viable, some characters simply offer more reliable results in the current state of the game. In this guide, you’ll find a complete breakdown of where every hero stands in the June 2026 meta after the Season 8.5 balance changes.

    Marvel Rivals Tier List Overview

    TierCharacters
S-tierEmma Frost, Luna Snow, Cyclops, Gambit, Devil Dinosaur, Groot, Magneto, White Fox, Phoenix, The Punisher
A-tierVenom, Elsa Bloodstone, Loki, Invisible Woman, Namor, Winter Soldier, Star-Lord, Captain America, Mantis, Psylocke, Rocket Raccoon, Daredevil
B-tierAngela, Adam Warlock, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Rogue, The Thing, Jeff the Land Shark, Hela, Magik, Ultron, Wolverine
C-tierBlack Cat, Deadpool, Mister Fantastic, Moon Knight, Storm, Thor, Peni Parker, Cloak & Dagger, Black Panther, Iron Fist
D-tierHawkeye, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Squirrel Girl, Iron-Man, Black Widow, Blade, Human Torch

This tier list is based on the June 2026 Season 8.5 meta. Future balance patches, new heroes, team-up changes, and player discoveries can shift these rankings quickly.

    S-Tier Heroes

The heroes in S-Tier are the defining forces of the Season 8.5 meta. In my experience, these characters consistently provide the highest value across ranked play, regardless of team composition.

Even after the latest balance patch, characters like Emma Frost, Luna Snow, Cyclops, Gambit, Devil Dinosaur, Groot, Magneto, White Fox, Phoenix, and The Punisher continue to dominate because they offer exceptional value with relatively few weaknesses.

Magneto and Groot provide outstanding frontline presence, while Luna Snow and White Fox remain among the best support options in ranked play. Duelists such as Cyclops (the latest addition), Gambit, Phoenix, and The Punisher can pressure enemies and turn confrontation into a win.

That said, S-Tier does not mean flawless. Phoenix and Punisher can be vulnerable to coordinated dives, Gambit’s Ultimate is slightly weaker than before, and White Fox’s crowd-control radius has been reduced. Still, if you’re looking for the safest and most impactful picks in the current meta, these heroes should be at the top of your priority list.

    A-Tier Heroes

    Elsa Bloodstone

While they may not dominate matches as consistently as the S-Tier picks, I still consider them excellent choices for climbing ranked and fitting into a wide variety of team compositions. Heroes like Venom, Invisible Woman, Captain America, and Mantis provide dependable utility and frontline presence.

Damage-focused picks such as Elsa Bloodstone, Namor, Winter Soldier, Psylocke, and Star-Lord can solo carry games when played correctly. However, the key difference between A-Tier and S-Tier is consistency.

Many of these heroes excel in specific maps, team compositions, or matchups rather than every situation. For example, Namor thrives in objective-heavy fights, while Venom and Psylocke are particularly effective when diving vulnerable backlines.

From my experience, these heroes perform best when paired with strong enablers. Mantis and Invisible Woman can amplify aggressive duelists, while Rocket Raccoon and Captain America help create space for damage dealers. If your preferred S-Tier hero is unavailable, A-Tier characters are often the next-best option without feeling like a major downgrade.

    B-Tier Heroes

    Rogue Marvel Rivals

B-Tier heroes sit in an interesting spot within Season 8.5. From my testing and observation of high-level play, these characters are far from weak, but they usually require the right matchup to truly shine.

Heroes such as Angela and Rogue benefited from recent buffs, while Adam Warlock received a welcome improvement to his healing output. However, none of these changes were significant enough to push them into the upper tiers.

The biggest strength of B-Tier heroes is their niche value. Doctor Strange can still control space effectively. Hulk and The Thing remain durable frontline options, and Wolverine can punish teams that lack peel. Meanwhile, Jeff the Land Shark and Adam Warlock provide solid support utility when paired with coordinated teammates.

Unfortunately, their main weakness is consistency. Most B-Tier heroes are either overshadowed by stronger alternatives from the A and S tiers. I generally view them as counter-picks or comfort picks rather than heroes you can blindly lock into every match.

    C-Tier and D-Tier Heroes

    Moon Knight Marvel Rivals

The heroes in C-Tier and D-Tier currently face an uphill battle. While they can still find success in the hands of dedicated specialists, I rarely see them provide the same level of consistency or impact as higher-ranked picks. Characters like Moon Knight, Black Cat, and Black Panther suffer from either recent nerfs or a lack of reliable value.

Meanwhile, D-Tier heroes such as Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Blade, and Human Torch often struggle to keep pace with the durability, utility, and burst damage available elsewhere in the roster.

Their biggest issue is that they usually require more effort for less reward. Although the recent buffs to Blade and Human Torch are steps in the right direction, they are not yet enough to elevate them significantly. In my opinion, these heroes should be NetEase’s main focus for the upcoming balance changes.

    Best Duelists Ranked

    1. Cyclops
    2. Phoenix
    3. Elsa Bloodstone
    4. The Punisher
    5. Winter Soldier

In the current Season 8.5 meta, I believe Cyclops sits at the top of the Duelist hierarchy. His ability to combine hitscan damage with powerful abilities makes him effective across nearly every rank.

Right behind him are Phoenix and Elsa Bloodstone, both of whom continue to excel despite recent balance changes. Phoenix remains incredibly versatile, while Elsa’s passive buff makes her even more consistent in extended fights.

The Punisher and Winter Soldier round out the elite picks thanks to their game-changing utility and damage output.

    Best Vanguard Heroes Ranked

    1. Devil Dinosaur
    2. Magneto
    3. Emma Frost
    4. Venom
    5. Captain America

From everything I’ve seen in Season 8.5, Devil Dinosaur remains the king of the Vanguard role despite receiving multiple nerfs. His ability to absorb pressure and dictate the pace of a match is still unmatched.

Magneto is arguably the biggest winner of the patch, as his Ultimate buff significantly improves his playmaking potential and makes him a far more threatening anchor tank.

Emma Frost continues to thrive thanks to her flexible defensive tools and strong anti-dive presence. Among the more aggressive options, Venom and Captain America remain reliable dive tanks.

    Best Strategists Ranked

    1. Luna Snow
    2. White Fox
    3. Gambit
    4. Rocket Raccoon
    5. Invisible Woman

Strategists are arguably more important than ever in Season 8.5, and Luna Snow remains the gold standard. Her healing & damage output, along with her Ultimate ability, continue to make her one of the safest Strategist picks in Marvel Rivals.

White Fox follows closely behind, offering incredible crowd control and synergy with many of the game’s strongest heroes. Even after a small nerf, she remains a premier support option.

Gambit continues to dominate through utility and anti-heal effects, while Rocket Raccoon provides unmatched consistency thanks to his damage and mobility. Lastly, Invisible Woman remains one of the most valuable playmakers in the role, offering shields and exceptional survivability.

Biggest Winners and Losers of the Latest Patch

    Most Improved Heroes

Several heroes emerged from Season 8.5 in a much better position than before. If I had to pick the biggest winners, Magneto, Rogue, Elsa Bloodstone, and Angela would top the list.

Magneto’s Ultimate now lasts longer, giving him significantly more teamfight presence. Rogue’s survivability buffs make her far more reliable during extended brawls, while Angela’s mobility and shield improvements help her stay relevant against stronger frontline options.

Elsa Bloodstone also benefits from reaching her passive power spikes faster, improving her overall consistency. None of these heroes were weak before, but the latest adjustments have made them much easier to justify in competitive team compositions and ranked play.

    Most Nerfed Heroes

    Black Cat Marvel Rivals
    Image via NetEase Games

On the other side of the spectrum, Devil Dinosaur, Black Cat, Daredevil, and Moon Knight took some of the most meaningful hits. Devil Dinosaur still remains an S-tier character, but losing crowd control and seeing reductions to his durability lowers his ability to dominate every match.

Black Cat arguably suffered the most, with nerfs affecting her damage, economy, survivability, and Ultimate effectiveness all at once. Daredevil’s scouting and engagement tools are less threatening than before, reducing his playmaking potential.

Meanwhile, Moon Knight’s damage reductions weaken one of his strongest strengths: punishing grouped enemies. In my view, these heroes are still playable, but they no longer enjoy the same level of meta influence they had prior to the patch.

Best Heroes for Beginners in Marvel Rivals

If you are new to Marvel Rivals, the best beginner-friendly heroes in June 2026 are:

    • Cyclops
    • The Punisher
    • Groot
    • Rocket Raccoon
    • Luna Snow
    • Magneto
    • Captain America

Cyclops and The Punisher are good starting Duelists because their kits are easier to understand than many high-mobility damage heroes. Groot and Magneto are strong Vanguards for players who want to learn frontline positioning.

Rocket Raccoon and Luna Snow are good Strategist options because they provide consistent team value without requiring overly complex mechanics.

    Final Thoughts

The Marvel Rivals June 2026 meta is shaped heavily by Season 8.5. Cyclops immediately becomes one of the strongest Duelists, Magneto gains more teamfight power, and Devil Dinosaur remains a top Vanguard even after meaningful nerfs.

At the same time, heroes like Black Cat, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Phoenix, Star-Lord, Gambit, Ultron, and White Fox all lost some power in different ways. This makes the meta feel more open, but S-Tier and A-Tier heroes still provide the most reliable results.

If you want safe picks for ranked, start with Cyclops, Magneto, Luna Snow, Devil Dinosaur, Groot, Gambit, White Fox, Phoenix, or The Punisher. If you prefer comfort picks, lower-tier heroes can still work, but they require more effort and better matchup knowledge.

Who is the best hero in Marvel Rivals in June 2026?

Cyclops, Magneto, and Devil Dinosaur are among the strongest heroes in the current Season 8.5 meta thanks to their overall impact in ranked matches.

Which heroes should beginners play in Marvel Rivals?

New players will generally find the most success with heroes such as Cyclops, The Punisher, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon, as they offer strong value without requiring highly complex mechanics.

Did the Season 8.5 patch change the Marvel Rivals meta?

Yes. The patch nerfed several dominant heroes, such as Devil Dinosaur, Black Cat, Daredevil, and Moon Knight, while buffing characters like Magneto, Rogue, Angela, and Elsa Bloodstone.
