Reikon Games and Plaion have officially announced that the release date for their sci-fi first-person shooter, Metal Eden, is set for September 2 on PC and consoles. Originally, the game was slated for a May 6 release after its reveal during a PlayStation State of Play event. However, the developers decided to delay it to address feedback they received from the demo.
It’s good that the team took the extra time to polish the game before release. If there’s one thing a fast-paced FPS needs, it’s a super smooth and stable experience. Now, the wait is almost over.
Metal Eden Is Almost Here
The new trailer for the game, which was released last week, really shows what a treat we are in for. Based on some of the hands-on previews of the demo, the gameplay feels very similar to what we had in the Doom (2016) reboot, and some of the movement feels eerily similar to Titanfall 2, which is a huge win in my book.
You play as a powerful hyper unit named ASKA, who is sent on a suicide mission to rescue humanity’s remnants, which are trapped within decaying cores on Planet Moebius. The game is described as an “adrenaline-fueled sci-fi FPS” that explores a world where human consciousness has transcended the flesh and now lives within robots. You’ll dive into cybernetic warfare, control a powerful hyper unit, and uncover the mysteries of a lost paradise, all while getting trophies.
What’s really cool is that the developers are using Unreal Engine 5 to create a truly immersive and atmospheric world. They’ve created a brutalist and monolithic environment in the orbital city of Moebius. The city’s design emphasizes vertical exploration and gives you a lot of freedom to move around and find different ways to approach your objectives. From what I’ve seen, the environments look incredible, with high-fidelity models and great lighting effects that really sell the sci-fi world.
Metal Eden Is Coming to a Console You Play

If you’d like to try it out for yourself, a demo is currently available on PC via Steam, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. This is a perfect way to see if the game is for you before it comes out next week. The global release times for Metal Eden on September 2 have been announced as well.
For those of you in Los Angeles, the game will be available at 8:00 PDT. New York gets it at 11:00 EDT, and London will see the release at 16:00 BST. If you’re in Tokyo or Sydney, you’ll have to wait until September 3 to play. The wait is almost over, and I honestly can’t wait to see what the full Metal Eden game has in store for us.
