How to unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Racing Crossworlds

By Sadik HossainSeptember 23, 20254 Mins Read

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings back the beloved blue hedgehog in his fastest kart racing adventure yet. The game features a massive roster of 23 starting characters from the Sonic universe, and each with their own unique racing style and abilities.

Among all these racers, one special character stands above the rest. Super Sonic represents the ultimate prize for dedicated players who want to experience true racing dominance with complete invincibility and maximum stats.

To unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, you must defeat all 23 rival characters in Grand Prix mode at least once. This means completing a minimum of 23 Grand Prix races, though you may need more attempts if you don’t beat your assigned rival on the first try.

The rival system works as a special challenge mechanic. Before each Grand Prix begins, the game assigns you a rival racer who will race more aggressively and taunt you throughout the four-race series. Your goal is simple: finish with more total points than your rival across all four races in the Grand Prix.

You don’t need to win first place overall to beat a rival. As long as you accumulate more points than your specific rival character by the end of the Grand Prix, that counts as a victory. The game tracks your progress with checkmarks next to defeated rivals on the character selection screen.

How to Make Rival Battles Easier in Sonic Racing Crossworlds

If you’re struggling to defeat certain rivals, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers helpful difficulty options. You can manually select your rival before starting any Grand Prix instead of accepting the randomly assigned one. More importantly, you can reduce the rival’s difficulty level by adjusting their flame bars to just one flame, which represents the easiest setting.

This flexibility means you can strategically choose weaker rivals or lower their difficulty to make the unlocking process more manageable. The game doesn’t require rivals to be at maximum difficulty, so feel free to make things easier for yourself. This approach mirrors effective character building strategies found in other competitive games.

Why Super Sonic Only Works in Grand Prix Mode

Super Sonic operates as essentially a cheat character in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. He possesses complete invincibility to all items, meaning no weapons or power-ups can affect him during races. Additionally, he doesn’t lose rings when bumping into walls or other racers, unlike every other character in the game.

His stats are maxed out across all categories, making him the fastest and most powerful racer available. The only things that can slow Super Sonic down are driving into walls, falling into pits, or manually pressing the brake button.

Because of these overpowered abilities, the developers restricted Super Sonic to offline Grand Prix mode only. Using him in online multiplayer would create an unfair advantage that would ruin the competitive experience for other players.

What Happens When You Unlock Super Sonic

Once you defeat your final rival, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds displays a special notification screen confirming your achievement. The game then triggers a unique ending sequence that’s different from the standard credits you see after completing other objectives.

This special ending features a retrospective look at Sonic characters from past and present, along with a new title screen and additional vocal tracks for the menu music. It’s the game’s way of celebrating your complete mastery of the Grand Prix mode, similar to how other games reward dedicated players with exclusive unlocks.

After unlocking Super Sonic, you gain access to what is essentially a victory lap character. Since most players will have completed nearly everything else in the single-player campaign by this point, Super Sonic serves as a reward for your dedication and skill. The golden hedgehog transforms your racing experience in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, because it offers unstoppable power for those who earn this ultimate prize through skillful racing and persistent effort.
