Elden Ring: Nightreign brings a feverish intensity and pace not seen in the base game and the DLC, and if you don’t prepare yourself well for the final fight against the Nightlord on Day 3, your run starts afresh from scratch. In this article, we tell you the best way to plan an Elden Ring run, and the places to go to first in Limveld.
Church For Increasing Healing Charges
Churches in Limveld get you the critical increase in number of Crimson Flasks that you can carry. You start with 3, and there are 3 churches in the Limveld map that you should absolutely aim for first. Most of the times you will find these churches on the very edges of the map, which makes reaching them first even more critical – the last thing you want to miss out on account of the Night closing in are healing charge increases.
Mines For Smithing Stones
The next place that you want to hit are the mines – they hold the important upgrade material for your weapons. Unlike the base game, the smithing in Nightreign is simplified – you have the basic Smithing Stones, and you have Smithing Stone 2. It is the latter which are rare, and which help upgrade a weapon to Legendary level. These stones are obtained on defeating the boss in mines, and like the churches – you want to ensure you have enough time to get to the mine, explore it and defeat the boss. The last thing that you would want is being stuck in a mine with all your runes and the circle closing in above.
Clearing Out Forts, Ruins & Evergaols
The next thing you want to do is start defeating minor bosses – these generally give you a good number of runes to level up your character, as well as a decent drop in terms of weapons, buffs, and this is critical – spells, incantations and other equipment for a mage build. Evergaols will need a Stonesword Key like in the base game, and if you have one you should make it a point to tackle the relatively weak bosses here. With a well co-ordinated team of 3, and the fast paced nature of travel in the game, all this should not take much time and will have you in a good position for Days 2 & 3.
Icons With Elemental Effects That Match The Boss Weakness
Each Nightlord that you hunt has a clearly marked weakness in the description. Look for areas on the map which have the same symbol, you will most likely get a weapon or a spell with that effect; and will make a huge difference in your final fight with the boss on Day 3. I have had fights both with such a weapon and without one, and trust me when I say that it is big advantage.
Visit Merchants On The Way
If you are not having too much luck with the weapon drops, it might be worth a shot visiting the merchants around the map to check if there is something there of help to you. While the location is pretty random, there will always be one confirmed vendor in the Township.
Unlock Mage Towers
This part is exactly like in the base game, where you will come across sealed towers that need a crest to be broken, to unlock the entrance. You should do this part especially if you are looking to collect spells and other equipment for a mage-focused build. These crests can be hidden anywhere around the tower and will need some bit of searching. Once unlocked, climb to the very top to pick from a set of options presented to you.
