The Markiona fight with her Puppet dangling along was teased in the Lies Of P Overture release trailer, and it is as epic and challenging as it looked in that trailer. However, there are tips and tricks to quickly take down this boss, and in this guide we have all the details of Markiona’s moveset, which ones to avoid, block, and windows of opportunity to get in your own attacks, and take her down with ease. So let’s get started
Markiona Boss Fight: Preps

While you would have been used to a particular playstyle and weapon by the time the boss fight arrives, we have put below tips to prepare for the Markiona boss in Lies Of P Overture:
- Get a weapon (or a grindstone) that does Acid damage. Applying that debuff gets the tick damage going, and blunts the impact of some of Markiona’s moves.
- This will be somewhat a fight of attrition, so her health bar slowly depleting on account of the acid/fire debuff will be valuable.
- The Perfect Guard grindstone is a big help – Markiona has chain attacks that you can use with this to build her Stagger meter quickly.
How To Defeat Markiona, Puppeteer Of Death
While this is a 2-boss fight, effectively you should concentrate only on Markiona. If you try to take down the Arche-Puppet first, you then have to get its health bar fully down, then attack Markiona while she is staggered. Then, the Arche-Puppet’s health bar gets refilled again, making it too long a fight, and hence, higher chances of a couple of attacks from either of them taking you down.
Also, most of the time, you would be facing only 1 attacking enemy out of the 2. When the thread connecting Markiona to the Arche-Puppet glows orange, that is your cue to prepare for the Arche-Puppet unleashing one of its combos, so stop attacking Markiona and have your Stamina bar full and ready.
The boss fight will generally always start with Markiona lighting up the thread, and the Arche Puppet lunging at you from across the arena. You can dodge this move, and quickly get in a few hits on Markiona to get the fight started at an advantage.
With these things in place, let’s have a look at the boss’s moveset, alongwith ones that you can exploit for dealing damage.
Markiona Moveset & How To Defeat
2 Orb Attacks + 1 Jump Attack (with a 4th attack sometimes added): Easy to perfect guard, and start building Stagger. Also, good time to get in a few stabs after the combo is done.
Only Jump Attack part of the above combo: Sometimes, it will just be the last Jump Attack as a standalone move, again great for perfect guard + few quick stabs.
Overhead Slam: Markiona glides around a bit and then slams the Blue Orb. This is a delayed attack, so don’t perfect guard too early. With some practice, is an easy one to perfect guard.
Orb Attack Combo: These are mostly 4 rapid attacks – dodge away.
Throw each Orb at a distance and then Pull them back: She will do this attack if you are at a distance. The throwing part of the moveset is an easy one to dodge and get behind her for some quick hits. However, don’t get too greedy as the orbs can take a decent chunk of your health when she pulls them back, and she does that at high speed.
Spinning Orb: She will spin the Orbs at very high speed. If you spot this combo, you can quickly move in and land a few hits. If you are feeling confident, you can try perfect guard against these, they are a sure way to almost guarantee a Stagger.
Multiple Spinning Orbs: She crosses her hands, an early indicator of Spinning Orbs encircling her, and she always does this move twice. Easy, telegraphed move, can be avoided by keeping a distance, and getting in a few stabs at the end of it.
Blue Threads Grab: This is the one attack to watch out for and avoid at all costs. She pulls the Orbs behind her, and you see trails of Blue Thread emanating, which is a sure sign of an incoming Grab attack. Dodge away the moment you see it.
Arche Puppet Moveset

Spinning Puppet: 2 swings, the second one with some delay after the first one is done. Keep your distance, run in and get a couple of hits on Markiona as soon as the moveset is finished.
Fist / Hammer Slam: Markiona slams her fist into the ground, followed by the Puppet doing that at the same location.
Other attacks are ones that are easily avoidable. The general strategy here, in any case is to let the Arche Puppet complete its moveset and then get back to active mode once Markiona starts her combos.
Markiona + Arche Puppet Combo Moveset
Both will glow Orange, and there will be 3 hammer slams by the Arche Puppet. The third one will have an AOE damage. Keep yourself at a distance when all this is happening. You can technically Perfect Guard, but too much of a risk.
Sticking to the above responses to the different moveset will get you Stagger opportunities, as well as continued health depletion due to the Acid debuff; and emerge victorious in this tough boss fight.
