Leveling up your roster of players is a crucial task in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road. While you can safely grind by playing the main story and leveling up through CPU matches, there is another way to fast-track this process. Read on to know the fastest way to upgrade your heroes!
Fastest Ways to Level Up Your Characters in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road
One of the best ways to quickly level up your characters in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is by farming EXP through playing online ranked matches and exploiting the Level Difference EXP Boost Bonus.
The idea is to play with opponents that have a higher team level than yours, to gain a Level Difference EXP Boost Bonus when the match ends. Here’s how you can do it:
- Go to the Spirits tab in your Team Dock.
- Unlock multiple Level 1 characters.
- Place all of these newly acquired Level 1 characters in your team.
- Place one or two of your favorite characters that you want to upgrade.
- This will reduce your overall Team Level.
- The lower the team level, the better the EXP yield at the end.
- Finish your team setup.
- Ensure your team level is very low (ideally, in the 1-5 range)
- Go to Competition Mode.
- Click on the Compete Online option.
- Select the Ranked Match option.
- Play a match against a player with a Higher Team Level than yours.
- The higher the opponent’s team level, the larger the Level Difference Bonus EXP Boost.
- Play the match.
- You will gain a massive amount of EXP at the end, even if you lose.
- This will help you upgrade your newly acquired Level 1 players.
- Repeat the process by unlocking new characters from the Spirits tab.

Tips to remember:
- Do not place multiple high-level players in your team. Doing this will increase your overall team ranking and decrease the level gap between you and your opponent. Always remember: the larger the level gap between you and your opponent, the larger the percentage of Level Difference Bonus.
- Do not worry about winning. In fact, focus on playing with players who have such a high ranking that a defeat is guaranteed. Remember, we’re doing all of this just to level up our characters. The outcome of the actual match will have no impact on our goal. So, losing these matches is perfectly okay, if not encouraged!
- If you still want to win a ranked match, we recommend keeping a high-ranking Goalkeeper in your team. Sure, this will result in increased team level, but now you’ll have a shot at winning.
- If you want to focus on leveling up a certain favorite character, place them in the team along with your Level 1 characters. Doing so will ensure that they level up quickly. However, keep the number of experienced (high-level) characters to a minimum (to have an overall lower team level).
FAQs
How is the Level Difference EXP Boost Bonus calculated?
The Level Difference EXP Boost Bonus is calculated based on the gap between your and your opponent’s overall team levels. For example, if you have a Team Level of 6 and your opponent has a Team Level of 12, you will receive a 100% Level Difference EXP Boost Bonus. This bonus is displayed before the match starts, so you can decide beforehand if the match is worth your time.
What happens if I lose the ranked matches?
You will still get massive EXP, even when you lose the ranked matches. The strategy discussed above has the sole purpose of farming Experience Points. In fact, there are high chances that you WILL lose these matches. If you’re winning, you’re not matching up with higher-ranked teams.
How can I match with higher-level opponents?
Keeping a very low average team level (by incorporating a large number of level 1 characters) will make sure that you match with players who have higher team rankings. If you are not satisfied with the opponent’s team level, simply cancel the match and look for another opponent.
What are some other methods to level up the characters?
You can play CPU matches to gain EXP. This method is a bit slower, but it’s safer if winning really matters to you. Moreover, you can focus on Green and Blue rarity players as they tend to rank up faster than other rarity players. So, when you’re looking for characters to unlock in the Spirits tab, focus on those with Green or Blue rarity level (indicated by flames surrounding their picture)
