Fallout 76, in line with several updates and patches released since launch, has had the next reasonably big update hitting the game – this time it is one that focuses on adding a lot of stuff around fishing in the game.
The Gone Fission update hits all platforms, and if you are looking to download this, the file sizes for various platforms are as follows:
- Steam: 15 GB
- Xbox: 32.6 GB
- PlayStation: 8.2 GB
The update introduces a new questline, new fishing challenges and daily quests, new bait for fishing, and food items – again, as is now easy to imagine- centered around fish. The developers look to have given a decent overhaul as well to the ability to go fishing, with a promise of ‘If you can swim in it, you can fish in it’.
Here are the key updates summarized:
The new storyline added to this update kicks off when you visit Fisherman’s Rest in the Mire. Here, you will get introduced to new characters – Captain Raymond Clark, The Fisherman, and his pet crab, Linda-Lee.
The quest will also hand you a Fishing Rod, which you can upgrade and tweak with new styles, bobbers and reels, that will help you catch not just fish, but ‘mysterious creatures living in the irradiated waters of the wasteland’.
The type, and rarity of Fish that you catch here will depend upon the bait used (3 types: Common, Improved & Superb) and the weather(Clear, Rainy & Nuke). The update also includes collectibles in the form of 12 Axolotls, with updates planned on social media to reveal their likely locations every month.
The developers also have given an extensive note on the combat balancing, with the promise of this being the focus of the subsequent patches that they plan to role out in the coming months. You can check these out here.
