- Prioritize placing your Hero Characters in Forward and Goalkeeper positions.
- Once you have locked a couple of heroes for FW and GK, place the surplus in Midfielder.
- Placing a Hero Character as Defender should be your last resort.
Unlocking Hero Players in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is a serious grind. And after all the effort you’ll go through to acquire them, you’d naturally want to place them into team positions that’ll afford you strong results.
Best Hero Positions For Victory Road Teams
Since you can place only two Hero Players in your team in Chronicle Mode, it’s essential to understand which positions benefit the most from Hero Placement.
If you have Hero characters from all four positions, we recommend placing them as Goalkeeper (GK) and Forward (FW). If you only have one of them, prioritize having a Hero Midfielder (MF). You should put a Hero Character in Defender position only if you don’t have any FW/DF and GK Hero characters.
1. Hero Goalkeeper
Your priority should always be unlocking and keeping a Hero Goalkeeper in your team. If you have a spare, you can also consider placing two of them on your team to counter Elemental Attacks. Hero GKs will always offer great returns, as they can successfully defend against the enemy’s strong shots.
Sangoku emerges as the best Hero GK choice, owing to their powerful moves, such as God Hand X. Unlocking Hero GK and completing their entire Abilearn Board pathway is the best move in terms of Hero Positioning.
2. Hero Forward

The second-best possible position for a hero character is Forward. Placing a Hero FW on your team will allow you to successfully score against the enemy team that has a Hero GK. (And chances are, that most of them will!) Focus on unlocking and placing FWs that feature high proficiency in dribbling. This will allow you to break through the enemy team’s Defenders.
Gran (Kiyama Hiroto) is a perfect choice for a Hero FW. They offer powerful moves like Southern Cross and Meter Blade. Furthermore, you can use Training Beans to upgrade them and build a mean, aggressive attack machine!
3. Hero Midfielder
If you don’t have Hero GK or FW, it’s in your best interest to invest in a Hero Midfielder. However, keep in mind that a Hero Midfielder CANNOT be a suitable alternative for Hero GK. We always recommend that you first get your hands on a Hero GK. If you don’t have a Hero FW, then a Hero Midfielder can be a suitable alternative. Focus on unlocking a Hero Midfielder that features special abilities, such as Auras or Avatars.
4. Hero Defender
All things considered, it’s not the best practice to use a Hero Defender when there’s a strict limit of two heroes only per match. However, as a last resort, you can use a Hero Defender. Some Hero DFs, especially the ones that feature powerful abilities like Wall of Atlantis or The Mountain, can be useful. However, a Hero DF will always pale in comparison with Hero GK, and fold in high-pressure matches, especially if the enemy team has a Hero FW.
FAQs
What’s better: Hero Midfielder or Hero Goalkeeper?
Goalkeeper. When in doubt, always remember that you’ll be better off with a Hero character as a Goalkeeper. A Hero Midfielder can be used as a replacement for Hero Forward. However, never trade a Hero Goalkeeper for a Midfielder.
Why do some enemy teams have more than two Hero players?
There is a bug that can theoretically let players use more than two Hero characters per match, with some players reporting they’ve faced off against teams that have all Hero players. However, the developers are expected to fix this bug in a few days.
How can I get Hero Characters for my team?
Hero Players can be unlocked by playing in Ranked Online Matches. They can also be acquired through winning Hero Battles. Please read our complete guide on Hero Rarities to get a detailed understanding of these high-tiered characters.
